The Massachusetts Minutemen play host to the Bowling Green Falcons in a week five tilt.
The Bowling Green Falcons were in the wrong place at the wrong time in a 68-17 defeat at Wisconsin Saturday. This one was all about the Badgers offense that racked up 756 yards with 644 yards coming on the ground. There was simply no way the Falcons could keep up with only 271 yards and eleven first downs with two turnovers and 23 minutes in possession. Fred Coppet and Andre Givens were the Falcons rushing attack with 112 yards and a touchdown each . BGSU received 163 passing yards from James Knapke with Roger Lewis snagging five balls for a game high 68 yards but the bottom line is this was one sided.

The Massachusetts Minutemen have definitely looked improved thus far in 2014 but not so much in a 48-7 loss at Penn State in week four. The Nittany Lions amassed a 464-266 yardage advantage with a 34-0 lead heading to the locker room ending this game from a competitive standpoint. The Minutmen never generated anything on the ground and only had the ball for less then 24 minutes. UMass went to the air often but Blake Frohnapfel struggled to a 17-33 performance for 263 yards with 77 yards coming on a touchdown throw to Tajae Sharpe in the 4th quarter. Marken Michel led UMass with six catches for 104 yards but the Minutemen needed much more help on both sides of the ball.
I thought more of Bowling Green then UMass in preseason but the Minutemen have impressed me more since. I will take a shot with the touchdown...
