The Oregon State Beavers and USC Trojans meet Saturday night at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
This will be the first true test of the season for the undefeated Oregon State Beavers, a team that’s undefeated and relies heavily on its passing game. Quarterback Sean Mannion is completing 67.3 percent of his passes for 903 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions. Oregon State has seven different players with more than 70 receiving yards and Victor Bolden leads the way with 192 yards and a touchdown. Oregon State’s passing offense is ranked 27th in the country and has produced 10 plays of 25 or more yards. While the Beavers ground game hasn’t been as successful, Terron Ward and Storm Woods have combined for more than 400 yards and six touchdowns. The Beavers can score points in a hurry and have yet to start firing on all cylinders. Defensively, the Oregon State Beavers are allowing 255 yards per game and have forced nine turnovers and six sacks. Michael Doctor leads Oregon State with 18 tackles and Obum Gwacham has three sacks.

The USC Trojans have had a couple of weeks to digest their loss to the Boston College Eagles. The good news for the Trojans is that quarterback Cody Kessler has really grown up this season, completing 71 percent of his passes for eight touchdowns and zero interceptions. Nelson Agholor, JuJu Smith and Javorius Allen have been on the receiving end of most of Kessler’s passes and have scored four touchdowns. The bad news for the Trojans offense is that it’s averaging just three yards per carry and may not improve until Tre Madden returns from a toe injury. Still, USC appears to be fine offensively and has topped 30 points in two of its three games. Defensively, the USC Trojans are allowing 412 yards and have forced seven turnovers and four sacks. Leonard Williams leads USC with 23 tackles and J.R. Tavai has two sacks.
The Beavers are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games and 16-5 ATS in their last 21 games following a bye week. The Trojans are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 home games and 14-6 ATS in their last 20 games following a bye week. The Beavers are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 meetings.
With the way both teams have been able to have success throwing the pigskin around the yard, I like the over in this matchup. The winner of the last three meetings between these two teams has topped 30 points. If that trend continues, the over is looking good in this spot.
