The San Jose State Spartans battle the Nevada Wolf Pack at Spartan Stadium in Saturday's week five bout.
The Nevada Wolf Pack stood toe to toe with Arizona Saturday but in the end douldn't get a defensive stop in a 35-28 defeat. The Wildcats piled up 507 yards and were balanced while most of Nevada's 429 yards came through the air. James Butler was the highlight of the Nevada rus with 50 yards on 13 carries but the right arm of Cody Fajardo kept the team within striking distance. Fajardo connected on 28-39 for 329 yards and three touchdowns with Richy Turner and Jerico Richardson leading the Wolf Pack receiving corps with 13 catches for 182 yards.

The San Jose State Spartans had high hopes of pulling the road upset of Minnesota but their offense never got untracked in a 24-7 defeat. The Spartans defense held the Golden Gophers to 387 yards but could not stop the ground game that accounted for 380 yards and over 6 1/2 yards per pop. The SJSU offense totaled 284 and constantly shot themselves in the foot with five turnovers. With almost no ground game to lean on the Spartans turned to the passing Blake Jurich but a 14-29 effort for 161 yards with a touchdown and a pair of interceptions is not a performance that is going to put a lot of points on the scoreboard.
We shall see if Nevada's two strong games against Washington State and Arizona is because the PAC 12 is weak or the Wolf Pack are strong because I don't think they have an easy time at San Jose State...
