The Auburn Tigers and the LSU Tigers face off on Saturday in a SEC college football matchup of ranked teams.
The Auburn Tigers are unbeaten and despite winning the SEC and going to the National Championship game last year and being undefeated this season thus far they don’t seem to be getting much respect. The Auburn offense is averaging 42.2 points per game with QB Nick Marshall completing 56.2 percent of his passes with six touchdowns and an interception and 273 rushing yards and two touchdowns on the ground but his receivers haven’t helped him much dropping a ton of balls so far this season. Cameron Artis-Payne anchors the AU ground attack with 468 yards and five touchdowns and D’haquille Williams as 23 receptions and five touchdowns. The Auburn defense allows 16.2 points per game, has seven interceptions, two fumble recoveries, and nine sacks. Cassanova McKinzy has 29 tackles, Jonathon Mincy has 27 tackles, and Jermaine Whitehead and Trovon Reed each have two interceptions. Auburn has a rough road ahead but it has been quite some time since they have lost a regular season game.

The LSU Tigers are off to a 4-1 start to the season and after losing their SEC opener to Mississippi State they are still looking for their first conference win of the year. LSU is averaging 41.4 points per game this season but the offense has struggled at times as Brandon Jennings has completed just 50.6 percent with five touchdowns and three interceptions and Brandon Harris has completed 73.3 percent of his passes with six touchdowns and an interception. Leonard Fournette is LSU’s leading ground gainer with 32 yards and four touchdowns and Kenny Hilliard has 298 yards with four touchdowns. LSU’s receovers have struggled to put up numbers as Travin Dural has 21 catches and five touchdowns, Try Quinn has 10 receptions, and Malachi Dupre has nine catches and four touchdowns. The LSU defense allows just 13 points per game with six interceptions, six fumble recoveries, and 10 sacks. Kwon Alexander has 30 tackles, Ronald martin has 29 catches and an interception, and D.J. Welter and Danielle Hunter each have 25 tackles. LSU has had a slew of players leave early and go early in the NFL Draft and it is just tough to replace that kind of talent year after year.
Auburn is 9-0 against the spread in their last nine SEC games, 11-2 against the spread following a win, and 14-3 against the spread in their last 17 games. LSU is 4-1 against the spread in their last five games, 4-10-1 against the spread following a win, and 1-4 against the spread in their last five SEC games. The home team has covered the point spread in four of the last five meetings of these two.
Auburn is going to win this game, the points are really the only discussion here as LSU has pu together a few 4th quarter comebacks already even thought hey came up just short against MSU but I see Auburn just putting this one well out of reach as LSU has lost too much talemt too often to maintain their elite level of play.
