The Miami Hurricanes travel to Georgia Tech to play the Yellow Jackets on Saturday night.
The Miami Hurricanes improved to 3-2 on the year after beating the Duke Blue Devils 22-10 last weekend. Miami has lost to Louisville and Nebraska on the road and has defeated Florida A&M and Arkansas State at home. Against Duke, Miami earned 426 total yards while holding Duke to only 264 total yards. Miami turned the ball over twice but the defense was able to force three turnovers against the Blue Devils. Miami committed 8 penalties for 93 yards and only went 2 of 13 on 3rd down. QB Brad Kaaya completed 20 of 24 passes for 223 yards and 2 touchdowns. WR Herb Waters caught 5 balls for 81 yards and 1 touchdown. RB Duke Johnson played great, rushing for 155 yards on 25 carries and 1 touchdown. Johnson became the third Miami player to reach 4,000 all-purpose yards. The Miami defense held Duke to less than 100 yards rushing and they picked off Duke’s QB Anthony Boone’s twice in the game. The Hurricanes will look to carry that momentum and earn their first road win of the year this weekend.

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets had the week off and are 4-0 on the season. The Yellow Jackets have defeated Wofford, Tulane, Georgia Southern, and Virginia Tech to remain undefeated early on in the season. Georgia Tech brings in the 11th ranked rushing offense, averaging 292 rushing yards per contest. To no surprise the Yellow Jackets have the 116th passing game in the country, averaging only 152 yards per game thru the air. Sophomore QB Justin Thomas has passed for 610 yards with 7 touchdowns and 1 interception. Thomas also leads the team in rushing with 443 yards and 2 touchdowns. Senior RB Zach Laskey has rushed for 316 yards and 2 touchdowns for the Yellow Jackets. The Georgia Tech defense has been above average, allowing an average of 25.5 points per game. Georgia Tech will play their next two games at home before heading out on the road in conference play. The Yellow Jackets will try to improve to 5-0 and have had two weeks to prepare for the Hurricanes.
Miami has won the last five meetings between these two teams, including a 15 points win at home last season. I think this game is a coin flip and that is why the line is where it is right now. Miami has played poorly on the road so far this year but they are familiar with Georgia Tech’s rushing attack and should have some success stopping it on Saturday. Georgia Tech is one dimensional offensively and they are a good defensive team that has had two weeks to prepare for this matchup. I think this will be a tight game down to the end and I’m going to side with the Hurricanes in this one.
