The Miami (Ohio) Redhawks host the Massachsetts Minutemen at Fred Yager Stadium Saturday.
The Massachsetts Minutemen have discovered the endzone in 2014 but that didn't help in a 47-42 loss to Bowling Green in week five. Defense was optional with both teams accumulating well over 600 yards and 59 first downs between them. The Falcons were far more balanced with UMass having no run game to lean on although that had little effect with Blake Frohnapfel lighting up the BGSU secondary. Frohnapfel connected on 36-61 for 589 yards with five touchdowns and an interception with Tajae Sharpe catching 13 passes for 179 yards and two scores while Jean Sifrin recorded eight receptions for 135 yards. UMass did commit four turnovers which robbed them of even more points.

It might be difficult to take seriously when I say Miami (Ohio) is improved after falling to 0-5 after a 35-27 loss to Buffalo but this team has generally been hanging tough although obviously not winning. The issue in week five was the Bulls racking up 575 yards with equal ability to run or throw while holding the ball for almost 39 minutes. The Redhawks did their damage on 371 yards and a few big plays with Dawan Scott ripping off a 61 yard touchdown run. The Redhawks got plenty of production from a hit or miss passing attack that saw Andrew Hendrix hit on only 12-38 throws but they went for 238 yards and three touchdowns. Miami (Ohio) stayed competitive because they made some plays but also did not turn the ball over.
Both teams are improved and both are 0-5 so which gets their first win? I think it will be tough to make that call but I do think we'll see points so perhaps the over here...
