The Old Dominion Monarchs look to hand the Marshall Thundering Herd their first defeat in week six.
The Marshall Thundering Herd improved to 4-0 on the season as they dominated Akron on the road 48-17 as a ten point favorite. The Zips were supposed to be a good test but Marshall jumped out to a 31-0 lead at the half and were never threatened. The boxscore tells the story with the Thundering Herd holding a 526-343 advantage in yards while leading in the turnover battle 4-1. The run was featured more then the pass with Remi Watson and Devin Johnson combining for 227 yards and a touchdown each while Rakeem Cato gave the Thundering Herd 210 yards through the air with a TD and interception in what was a quiet passing attack.

The Old Dominion Monarchs couldn't hold on to the ball or get stops versus Middle Tennessee State and the result was a 41-28 defeat at home in week five. The Blue Raiders moved the ball with ease with 539 yards and over 38 minutes of possession while the Monarchs were held to just over 400 yards with four killer turnovers. While the Blue Raiders were effective running and passing ODU was one dimensional with no ground threat. Throwing the ball is generally not a bad option for this offense but Taylor Heinicke threw for 362 yards and four touchdowns and was hurt with three interceptions. Antonio Vaughn led the ODU receivers with seven catches for 105 yards and three scores while Zach Pascal snagged eight balls for 110 yards.
I think we know by now that Old Dominion will throw and score but we also know that mistakes are magnified because opponents are moving the chains and scoring as well. I'm surprised the line is this high so I'll lean Marshall and wait to see a total...
