The Central Florida Knights welcome the Brigham Young Cougars to town for a Thursday night match up.
The Brigham Young Cougars not only lost a 35-20 decision to Utah State in week six, star quarterback Taysom Hill broke his leg and is lost for the season. Hill was 8-11 for 99 yards and a touchdown and ran for 35 yards and a score before getting hurt. Back up Christian Stewart went 10-29 for 172 yards and finished with three interceptions in what was disasaterous night for BYU. Jamaal Williams ran for 99 yards on 17 carries but the defense gave up 457 yards and couldn't make consistent stops which was compounded by turnovers.
USA TODAY Sports
The Central Florida Knights turned to their defense in a 17-12 road win over Houston to even their record at 2-2. The Cougars were held to 331 yards with a lost fumble and a pair of interceptions while kept out of the endzone. The Knights needed everything the defense gave them with just 228 yards and ten first downs to lean on. Justin Holman connected on 6-18 throws for 101 yards with a six yard TD to Jackie Williams and a 52 yarder to Breshad Perriman with no turnovers. The ground attack pproduced 127 yards and around 3 1/2 yards per carry as the offense was carried by the defensive side of the ball in this one.
I don't really know where the Cougars heads are after losing Hill. Perhaps they come together and perhaps they fold. Before Hill was hurt I did think BYU was a tad over rated but for now I'll take the points and revisit this the morning of the game so please check back...
