The Mississippi State Bulldogs and the Auburn Tigers face off on Saturday in a monster matchup in SEC college football action.
The Mississippi State Bulldogs are coming off of their biggest win of the year and one of the biggest in the history of their program as they knocked off Texas A&M last week. MSU will need to knock off their second top 10 ranked opponent in as many weeks if they hope to keep the roll going but this is new territory for the Bulldogs. The Mississippi State offense is averaging 42.6 points per game led by Heisman Trophy candidate QB Dak Prescott who has completed 63.9 percent of his passes with 13 touchdowns and two interceptions and he has rushed for 455 yards and six touchdowns. Josh Robinson is MSU’s leading ground gainer averaging 7.5 yards per carry with six touchdowns and Jameaon Lewis and De’Runnya Wilson are the leading receivers. The Mississippi State defense withstood the test against the Aggies last week but was aided by a few drops but face another tough offense in Auburn. The State defense is allowing 19.4 points with nine interceptions, 18 sacks, and three fumble recoveries. Bernardrick McKinney has 36 tackles including three sacks, Preston Smith has 3.5 sacks, and Preston Smith is coming off of a three-interception game. Mississippi State would be looking good for a playoff position with a win here.

The Auburn Tigers are off to a 5-0 start and are looking to get back to the Championship Game where their season ended with a loss last year. The Auburn offense can score in an instant and they are averaging 42 points per game led by QB Nick Marshall who has thrown for 755 yards with eight touchdowns and one interception and he has rushed for 392 yards and four touchdowns. Cameron Artis-Payne has rushed for 594 yards and five touchdowns and D’haquille Williams has 25 catches and three touchdowns to lead all Auburn receivers. The Auburn defense allows 14.4 points per game with seven interceptions, 10 sacks, and two fumble recoveries. Cassanova McKinzy has 35 tackles, Jonathan Ford has 32 tackles, and DaVonte lambert has 2.5 sacks. Auburn’s defense has come a long way in the turnover department in the past two years.
Mississippi State is 6-0 against the spread in their last six SEC games, 5-1 against the spread in their last six home games, and 5-1 against the spread following a win. Auburn is 10-1 against the spread against a team with a winning record, 4-1 against the spread in their last five road games, and 16-5 against the spread in their last 21 games.
We can expect plenty of scoring here and my free pick is the Over. My stronger pick is on who will cover the spread and I will post that in the Premium Area as well as on the App.
