The Northern Illinois Huskies eluded the upset bid of visiting Kent State to post a 17-14 victory and improve to 4-1 on the year. The Huskies were 26 point favorites but the boxscore was indicative of a close battle with NIU owning a 379-324 yardage edge. The Huskies eliminated the Golden Flashes on the ground but were somewhat balanced with their two quarterback approach. Anthony Maddie went 7-10 for 105 yards and an interception with a team high 48 rushing yards while partner in crime Drew Hare threw for 93 yards and ran for 34 yards. Juwan Brescacin led the Huskies with 116 yards on three receptions with Da'Ron Brown caught a 37 yard pass and had a seven yard scoring run.
I'm not a big fan of the Huskies running a two quarterback system but they are winning. I thought Central Michigan was better then they actually were which was proven to me in the huge loss to Syracuse. I'll take the points because I don't like the Huskies as DD faves in this spot...
