The Marshall Thundering Herd travel to FIU Stadium to tangle with the Florida International Golden Panthers.
The Marshall Thundering Herd stayed perfect on the season with a 49-25 victory over Middle Tennessee State. Marshall was never in danger as they slowly built a lead and pulled away in the process to improve to 6-0 in what was billed as a match up of high scoring attacks. In the end the Thundering Herd proved to be too much on both sides of the ball with a 589-370 advantage in yardage with the defense containing the Blue Raiders scoring throughout. Rakeem Cato burned the MTSU secondary for 337 yards with three touchdowns and an interception with Craig Wilkins leading the receiving corps with 77 yards on five receptions with touchdowns of six yards and 26 yards. Devon Johnson gave the Marshall ground attack some punch as well with 134 yards on 19 carries with three touchdowns while Remi Watson and Steward Butler combined for another 110 yards.

The Florida International Golden Panthers saw their opportunity for a three game winning streak go by the wayside in a 16-13 road loss to Texas-San Antonio as nine point underdogs. This was painful as the Roadrunners connected on a pair of field goals inside the final two minutes of the game. The defense first Golden Panthers were outstanding as they limited Texas-San Antonio to 318 yards and 3-14 on third down conversions while recovering three fumbles. Unfortunately the offensive side of the football was as big an enemy as UTSA with a mere 259 yards and a whopping five turnovers which makes me wonder how FIU even scored and how did the Roadrunners not score more. Alex McGough hit on 11-25 throws for 141 yards with a 15 yard TD to Jonnu Smith while throwing a pair of picks. The FIU rushing attack didn't get far with Anthone Samuel and Alex Gardner combining for 107 yards on 38 carries.
Marshall is 5-0 ATS in the last five on fieldturf, 5-0 ATS in their last five overall and 5-0 ATS in the last five versus a team with a losing record. FIU is 5-0 ATS after gaining less then 170 yards passing, 5-0 ATS after gaining less then 270 yards in the previous game and 4-0 ATS after scoring less then 20 points in the previous game.
The trends tell me Florida International has no offense and relies mostly on their defense to win games. I don't need the trends to tell me Marshall scores a boatload of points and has an under rated defense. If this is high scoring the Golden Panthers have zero chance because they can't move the ball. I'm not touching this this so I can make this pick...
