The Army Black Knights take their option to Dix Stadium to take tangle with the Kent State Golden Flashes in Saturday action.
The Army Black Knights never got their running game going and the result was a 41-21 home loss to Rice. The Owls gained 391 yards and were mistake free while Army managed 341 yards and lost a pair of fumbles. The problem for this team is they don't have the passing to play from behind and needed on with 91 yards and a touchdown through the air not being enough. Angel Santiago paced the ground attack with 106 yards and a score with Larry Dixon adding another 86 yards and a trip to the endzone. The defense was a little overmatched with Rice able to do a bit of everything.

The Kent State Golden Flashes figured to have a decent chance of scoring their first win of the season against Massachusetts but it was the Minutemen who prevailed 40-17 with a rare strong defensive effort. UMass had to much offense with 482 yards with the ability to put the ball in the air or keep it on the ground. The Golden Flashes did a little of everything as well but weren't as explosive and struggled to keep drives alive. Colin Reardon completed 22-41 for 191 yards with a touchdown and interception while combining with Anthony Meray for 104 rushing yards on only eight carries.
The Golden Flashes are 0-4 ATS versus a team with a losing record and 0-4 ATS at home against teams with a losing road record while the under is 3-0-1 in the past four home contests. The Black Knights are 0-4 ATS on the road against teams with a losing home record so both squads have poor numbers in this situation.
Something is going to go against the trends here and I'm hoping it's Army that breaks them. The Black Knights should be able to score enough on Kent State to make things difficult on an offense that does not light up the scoreboard. If the Black Knights get an early lead I have to like their chances with the option...
