The Eastern Michigan Eagles go on the road in search of back to back victories at the Massachusetts Minutemen.
The Eastern Michigan Eagles picked up a rare conference victory in a 37-27 decision against Buffalo which really put a dent in any hopes the Bulls had regarding challinging in the conference. The Bulls behind Joe Licata's 383 yards passing held a 537-484 edge in real estate but the Eagles recovered a fumble and intercepted a pair of passes to even things out. EMU kept things on the ground with good reason with Reginald Bell JR. rumbling for 202 yards on 17 carries with touchdowns of one, 71 and 72 yards. Bell Jr. didn't throw much but was effective on 8-14 for 144 yards with a 23 yard TD strike to David Gibson. Eastern Michigan might have found themselves a quarterback that gives them a dual threat which is something I want to see again before I become a believer.

The Massachusetts Minutemen received quality performances on both sides of the ball to pick up a 40-17 decision at Kent State for their first win in forever. The Minutemen played their best defensive game of the season with 341 yards allowed while also getting on the scoreboard with Jackson Porter's 34 yard pick six. UMass rolled up 482 yards with some quality work on the ground and another solid performance under center from Blake Frohnapfel who completed 23-38 for 286 yards with a trio of touchdowns. Lorenzo Woodley gave the Golden Flashes problems on the ground with 160 yards on 23 touches with a ten yard TD. If you have followed Massachusetts since they joined the Mac you know they have virtually no offensive punch until this season. The defense has generally been ahead of the offense but that has also changed with opponents having little issues finding the endzone.
The over is 4-0 in the Eagles last four games following an ATS win while going 0-4 ATS after gaining more then 200 yards in their last game with the over going 4-0 in the last four games rushing for more then 200 yards their previous game. The over is 3-0-1 in Massachusetts last four games after an ATS win and the over is 4-0 in the last four games after gaining more then 450 yards inn their previous game.
I know UMass is improved but laying 17 points seems extreme to me and if that was my only choice I would sit this out although a cover is completely possible. My thinking is if Bell Jr. is decent for Eastern Michigan then may be the over is the best choice...
