Malone Stadium and the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks host Sun Belt rival the Texas State Bobcats.
The Texas State Bobcats were looking forward to a win over Louisiana-Lafayette at home in front of a national telivision audience but instead it was the Ragin' Cajuns doing the celebrating in a 34-10 decision. UL Lafayette opened the scoring with a long pass and returned a fumble for six more and at the end of 30 minutes it was 21-3 and the Bobcats offense couldn't mount a comeback. The Ragin' Cajuns totaled 528 yards with both the ability to run and throw while Texas State mustered just 270 yards and could not run the ball at all. That put the offense on the shoulders of Tyler Jones who hit 14-23 for 176 yards with a 33 yard touchdown to Brice Gunter along with a pick. The normally reliable Bobcats offense only had the ball for 21 minutes and turned the ball over twice.
USA TODAY Sports
Louisiana-Monroe sits at 3-3 on the season after a 48-14 defeat at the hands of Kentucky in week eight. The Warhawks led this one 14-3 in the first before the roof caved in as as neither side of the ball was able to generate anything positive the rest of the game. The Wildcats totaled 352 yards but didn't need a whole lot with the Warhawks giving the ball away three times including a pick six. ULM mustered just 264 yards and couldn't establish anything on the ground with Pete Thomas and the passing attack enjoying all their success early. Thomas connected 20-31 for 167 yards with nine yard and 12 yard touchdowns to Kenzee Jackson and Ajalen Holley respectively in the first quarter with a pick six coming in the third. The Wildcats were just too big and strong in the trenches for the Warhawks offense to contend with.
Texas State is 0-4 ATS in their four games after allowing more then 450 yards in their previous game and 0-5 ATS in their last five conference contests while the over is 6-0 in the Bobcats last six road games. Louisiana-Monroe is 0-5 ATS in the past five games overall with the under going 0-4 ATS in their last four games following a bye week. The Warhawks are 0-4 ATS in their last four games following an ATS loss. Louisiana-Monroe won this match up 21-14 as a six point favorite on the road last season in the only meeting. Texas State has a decent offense but struggle defensively while Louisiana-Monroe is a team that is difficult to watch if you bet them. I'm taking the points for now and will update Friday afternoon...
