The Marshall Thundering Herd look to stay unbeaten when the Florida Atlantic Owls pay a visit.
The Florida Atlantic Owls kept their postseason hopes alive with a 45-38 victory over visiting Western Kentucky in week eight. The Owls rallied from a 31-14 deficit that was capped off by a 61 yard touchdown reception by Lucky Whitehead with 1:23 left in regulation. The Owls amassed a 619-402 edge in yardage with plenty of ability to run or throw to help offset the 335 yards in the air from the Hilltoppers Brandon Doughty. Greg Howell led the Owls on the ground with 118 yards and a TD on 21 totes with QS Jaquez Johnson adding 95 yards and a pair of scoring runs. Johnson was at his best putting the ball in the air with 325 yards and three touchdowns with Whitehead hauling in a game high eight receptions for 125 yards and two touchdowns.

The Marshall Thundering Herd stayed perfect on the season with a 45-13 rout of Florida International on the road to up their record to 7-0. Marshall had their hands full with the Golden Panthers through 30 minutes with only a 14-7 lead before getting their offense going in the second half to pull away and win easily on a 31-6 surge.Marshall piled up 457 yards with most coming in the second half with plenty of balance. Devon Johnson was the leading rusher with 117 yards on just nine touches while leading the receiving corps as well with three catches for 79 yards and a pair of TD's. Steward Butler ran for another 76 yards on six totes with a score while it was business as usual for Rakeem Cato who through for 214 yards and four touchdowns and an interception. The defense held the Golden Panthers to 385 yards and two turnovers in a bend but don't break second half.
Florida Atlantic has gone over in four straight after totaling more then 450 yards in the previous game while the Owls are 4-0 ATS in their last four contests after allowing more then 280 yards passing in ther previous game. FAU has gone 6-1 ATS in the last seven road games versus a team with a winning home record. The Thundering Herd went over in four straight games on fieldturf while going 6-0 ATS in the past six games overall and 9-0 ATS in their past nine home contests. Head to head Marshall won this match up 24-23 on the road as a ten point favorite last season. I'm going with Marshall at home and will wait and see if the number rises because I generally like Florida Atlantic as an underdog. This is not a game I'm interested in right now but check back Friday...
