The Kent State Golden Flashes hammered Army 39-17 in week eight to record their first victory of the season. On paper this appeared to be a favorable match up for the Black Knights but on the field it was all Golden Flashes who piled up 467 yards behind an explosive passing attack. Quarterback Colin Reardon connected on 27-40 for 360 yards with three touchdowns and an interception and added 42 yards and another score on the ground as he enjoyed his best game of 2014. James Brooks caught seven passes for 107 yards to pace the receiving unit that saw ten players record catches. The Kent State rushing attack produced 104 yards an 4 1/2 yards per carry but the team seldom ran with the air being so productive. The Black Knights did run for 295 yards but once again struggled when they fell behind.
