The North Texas Mean Green hope to begin a turnaround at Rice Stadium versus the Rice Owls in week nine.
The North Texas Mean Green are fighting to save their season after a 30-20 home loss to Southern Mississippi has the team looking at three consecutive defeats. The Mean Green had zero success in the second half where they were outscored 17-7 as the Golden Eagles offense could not be stopped with over 500 yards and over 37 minutes of possession. On the flip side the UNT attack fell shy of the 400 yard mark with the passing game successful but still not able to score points. Andrew McNulty completed 20-35 for 287 yards with Carlos Harris enjoying a monster game with 15 receptions for 216 yards with the rest of the team recording five catches. Antoinne Jimmerson paced the rush with 57 yards on 16 totes with a TD with Reggie Pegram adding 37 yards on six touches and a touchdown but the ground game wasn't going to win this game.

The surging Rice Owls recorded their third straight win in a 41-21 road win over Army heading in to their bye week. This was a game where the Owls were able to throw and run a little bit while the Black Knights were only effective on the ground with their option. The problem for the Black Knights is once they were forced to play from behind they didn't have the capability to throw and actually chose to run despite the scoreboard. Jowan Davis led the Owls on the ground with 77 yards on 21 tries with Darik Dillard adding 73 yards on carries including a 15 yard scoring scamper. Quarterback Driphus Jackson was deadly efficient on a 15-21 performance for 209 yards with thee touchdown strikes that helped the Owls to a double digit lead that killed Army's comeback chances.
The Under is 6-0 in the Mean Green's last six games after throwing for more then 280 yardsd in their previous contest while the over is 6-0 in their last six games overall with the over hitting in the Mean Green's last six on fieldturf. Rice is 4-0 in their past four games following a bye week with the Owls going 9-1 ATS in their past ten games in October while Rice is 9-1 ATS in the last ten contests after allowing less then 170 yards passing in their previous game. Head to head Rice is 21 ATS in the last three with the over going 2-1.
I think Rice will be well prepared for North Texas with an extra week to prepare especially with the Mean Geen struggling...
