The Southern Methodist Mustangs look to break in to the win column for the first tie versus the Memphis Tigers.
The Memphis Tigers were flying high after routing Cincinnati but received a reality check in a 28-24 home loss to Houston as a seven point favorite. This wasn't a thing of beauty by either team with both teams totaling around 360 yards with the Cougars winning the turnover battle 5-3. The Tigers offense fell off the map with only a field goal over the final 30 minutes with virtually no rushing attack to lean on. Sam Craft was the Tigers leading ball carrier with 49 yards on 17 carries and the ground game averaged just three yards per touch overall. Paxton Lynch had a solid day in the air for memphis when he wasn't throwing the ball to Houston. Lynch connected on 26-37 for 243 yards with 25 yard and 18 yard scores to Markeith Ambles and Tevin Jones respectably but his three interceptions were killers.

The Southern Methodist Mustangs came off their bye week looking for improved performances from both sides of the ball versus Cincinnati but nothing went their way in a 41-3 home loss to the Bearcats. The Bearcats offense totaled 508 yards and could run or throw as desired while the Mustangs struggled to keep drives going. SMU gained 276 yards and turned the ball over three times with a lost fumble returned 27 yards in the second quarter to give the Bearcats a 28-3 lead. The rushing attack was decent with Matt Davis and Prescott Line combining for 77 yards on only 12 carries but the run was abandoned given the score. Garrett Krstich connected on 17-31 throws for 172 yards with a pair of interceptions. Deon Sanders Jr. was a bright spot for the special teams with a 50 yard kick retur n although big kick returns were not going to keep Southern Methodist in this game.
Memphis is 10-1 ATS in their last eleven road games versus a taeam with a losing home record while going 4-1-1 ATS in their last six road contests while the over is 5-1 in the Tigers last six games against a team with a losing record. Southern Methodist is 0-4 the last four times playing on fieldturf with the over going 4-0 in the Mustangs last four contests after giving up more then 200 rushing yards in their previous game while the over is 4-0 in the last four after scoring less then 20 points in their previous game. Head to head Memphis is 1-4 ATS in the last four meetings with the road team going 4-1 in the past five match ups.
Memphis is coming in off a bye and a loss and have to be thinking revenge here after SMU has beaten them three straight times. Not really my style of game and I have this number closer to 17 so take that with a grain of salt and check back game day with an update...
