The Line: Utah State Aggies -17 -- Over/Under: 51 See the Latest Odds
The Utah State Aggies play host to the UNLV Rebels in Mountain West action in week nine.
The UNLV Rebels look to build on the momentum of their 30-27, overtime victory over visiting Fresno State in week eight. Both teams moved the football with around 480 yards apiece so this one came down to which team made the fewest mistakes and that was UNLV who won the turnover battle 4-1. The Rebels ran just well enough to get the attention of the Bulldogs defense and Blake Decker killed them through the air. Keith Whitley totaled 87 yards on 18 carries but four others gained 50 yards on 28 carries. Blake Decker had his way with the Fresno secondary with 332 yards with a touchdown and interception while the defense barely hung on with 27 points allowed in the second half.
USA TODAY Sports
The Utah State Aggies were left for dead when star quarterback Chuckie Keeton went down but they have proven they are more then a single player. The Aggies saw a shot at a three game winning streak fall by the wayside in a 16-13 defeat at a very good Colorado State on Saturday. The Rams won it on a 46 yard field goal with no time left on the clock in a game that could have gone either way. CSU won the yardage battle 318-260 with the Rams probably gaining an solid advantage when quarterback Darell Garretson was injured. Garretson was 14-19 for 132 yards and an interception with back up Craig Harrison going 5-12 for 28 yards. The ground attack was productive when used with Joe Hill ripping off a 59 yard touchdown run but the Aggies didn't run very much and decided to match defenses.
The under is 4-0 in Rebels last 4 games after accumulating more than 280 yards passing in their previous game and is 6-0 in Rebels last 6 road games vs. a team with a winning home record while the under is 4-0 in Rebels last 4 games in October. For Utah State the under is 6-0 in Aggies last 6 conference games while the Aggies are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games in October with Utah State going 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games after accumulating less than 170 yards passing in their previous game. Head to head the under is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings. With Garretson injuring his wrist Utah State is hurting at quarterback and laying a big number. I'll take the points put really have no desire to back UNLV with money and their numbers say why and the Aggies QB situation is up in the air so probably not a great betting opportunity...
