The Utah Utes and the Oregon Ducks face off on Saturday Night in Pac-12 college football action.

The Utah Utes fought back on Saturday at Arizona State but they couldn’t overcome their own mistakes as they fell to the Sun Devils. Both of Utah’s losses this year have come in games where they had every chance to win and simply let it get away from them. The Utah offense is scoring 33.4 points per game and gaining 373.4 yards as QB Travis Wilson has completed 56.4 percent of his passes with nine touchdowns and no interceptions. The star of the Utes offense has been Devontae Booker who has rushed for 990 yards and eight touchdowns and he also has 13 receptions and a receiving touchdown. Kenneth Scott leads the Utah receivers with 26 catches and three touchdowns and Dres Anderson has 22 catches and four touchdowns. Defensively Utah likes to get after the passer sacking opposing QB’s 39 times while allowing 21.2 points and 385.2 yards per game. Jared Norris is Utah’s leading tackles with 72 tackles including four sacks, Nate Orchard has 12 sacks to go with his 55 tackles, and Hunter Dimick has nine sacks. Utah has proved they can play with and beat anyone but they simply haven’ closed the deal every time out.

Utah Utes vs. Oregon Ducks - 11/8/14 College Football Pick, Odds, and Prediction

USA TODAY Sports

The Oregon Ducks look to be in control of their own destiny when it comes to the college football playoff; if they win out they are likely in. Oregon is coming off of a decisive win against Stanford avenging the past two years losses where the Cardinal knocked the Ducks out of the National Title picture. The Oregon offense has been exceptional averaging 45.4 points and 533.8 yards per game and QB Marcus Mariota should be the leading candidate to win the Heisman Trophy this season throwing 26 touchdowns with just two interceptions and rushing for seven touchdowns. Royce Freeman leads the Oregon ground attack with 846 yards and 13 touchdowns and Byron Marshall is the leading receiver with 40 catches and four touchdowns. The Oregon defense allows 24.8 points and 458.6 yards per game while creating 18 turnovers. Erick Dargan has 65 tackles and five interceptions, Joe Walker has 59 tackles, and Derrick Malone and Reggie Daniels each have 54 tackles. Oregon needs to avoid a letdown after last week’s big win.

Utah is 4-0 against the spread in their last four Pac-12 games, 7-0 against the spread against a team with a winning record, and 5-2 against the spread in their last seven home games. Oregon is 4-0 against the spread against a team with a winning record, 10-2 against the spread in their last 12 road games against a team with a winning home record, and 13-6 against the spread following a win by 20 or more points.

This one makes for an interesting matchup of Utah’s pass rush against the Houdini like escapes made by Mariota and should be a test to see if Oregon is capable of winning a lower scoring game and while I see the Ducks squeaking out a win, I like the points here and Utah victory outright isn’t out of the question.
