The Arizona Wildcats and the Washington Huskies face off on Saturday in Arizona Stadium in Pac-12 college football action.
The Arizona Wildcats have gone 2-2 their last four games after starting their season unbeaten but they are coming off of an 18-point win on Saturday against Colorado. Arizona hasn’t had consistency on the roaster in several years and it appears this year they have a roster they can build on. The Arizona offense is averaging 36.6 points and 505.2 yards per game and they are guided by QB Anu Solomon who has completed 59.5 percent of his passes with 25 touchdowns and five interceptions and he has rushed for 314 yards. Nick Wilson has rushed for 763 yards and seven touchdowns to lead the Arizona rushing attack and Cayleb Jones is the Wildcats leading receiver with 53 receptions and eight touchdowns. Defensively Arizona allows 26.1 points and 438.7 yards per game with 15 takeaways and 26 sacks. The Washington Huskies are 6-4 this season but as they saw against UCLA last week this is a team with some work and growing to do if they want to contend against the better teams. The Washington offense is averaging 30.7 points and 365 yards per game led by QB Cyler Miles who has completed 65.5 percent of his passes with 12 touchdowns and two interceptions and he has rushed for 225 yards and four touchdowns. Shaq Thompson has rushed for 456 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Huskies and Jaydon Mickens has 39 catches and two touchdowns as UW’s leading receiver. The Washington defense allows 26.4 points and 416.4 yards per game with 20 takeaways and 38 sacks. John Timu has 75 tackles, Danny Shelton has 73 tackles including 7.5 sacks, and Hau’oll Kikaha has 16.5 sacks. Washington seems to have holes they will need to fill o beat the better teams in the Pac-12.
Arizona is 3-8 against the spread in their last 11 Pac-12 games, 2-6 against the spread in their last eight games, and 0-4 against the spread in their last four home games. Washington is 6-2 against the spread following a game that they didn’t cover the point spread, 3-9-1 against the spread following a double-digit home loss, and 3-10 against the spread in their last 13 road games against a team with a winning home record. The home team has covered the point spread in the last six meetings of these two.
While the number here looks high Washington hasn’t shown they can compete in this type of matchup.
