TV: ESPN2

The Temple Owls and Penn State Nittany Lions square off Saturday at Beaver Stadium.

The Temple Owls have lost three of their last four games but are 2-2 on the road. Temple is a defensive minded team that’s allowing 18.1 points, 364.2 yards, and has forced 25 turnovers and 20 sacks. The Temple Owls have allowed 24 or less points in seven of their last 10 games. Tyler Matakevich leads Temple with 83 tackles and Praise Martin-Oguike has 5.5 sacks. Offensively, P.J. Walker is completing 54.4 percent of his passes for 11 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Temple has 17 passing plays of 25 or more yards, and Walker has zero touchdowns and one pick in his last two games. Jalen Fitzpatrick and Jahad Thomas have combined for more than 700 receiving yards and six touchdowns, however, Fitzpatrick is questionable for this game with a knee injury. Temple’s ground game is averaging 3.7 yards per carry, as Jahad Thomas leads the way with 371 yards and Kenneth Harper has scored three touchdowns in his last two games.

Penn State vs. Temple - 11/15/14 College Football Pick, Odds, and Prediction

USA TODAY Sports

The Penn State Nittany Lions have lost four of their last five games, including three straight at home. Like Temple, Penn State relies on a defense that’s allowing 16.6 points, 267.6 yards, and has forced 15 turnovers and 26 sacks. The Penn State Nittany Lions have allowed 24 or less points in 12 of their last 14 games. Mike Hull leads Penn State with 99 tackles and Anthony Zettel has 10 tackles for loss. Offensively, Christian Hackenberg is completing 56.2 percent of his passes for seven touchdowns and 12 interceptions. Hackenberg has one touchdown and three picks in his last two games. Penn State has 17 passing plays of 25 or more yards and has allowed 35 sacks, which is by far the most in the Big Ten. DaeSean Hamilton and Geno Lewis have produced more than 1,300 receiving yards and two touchdowns, while Jesse James has seven of his 29 receptions in his last two games. Penn State’s ground game is averaging 2.5 yards per carry, as Bill Belton leads the way with 417 yards and five touchdowns and Akeel Lynch has rushed for 98 yards in his last two games.

The Owls are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 road games and 12-5 ATS in their last 17 games overall. The Nittany Lions are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 non-conference games and 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall.

I'd consider playing the under when it's released given that neither team scores a ton and the under has hit the last four times these teams have played. However, the play here is Temple and the points. Penn State's offensive line is such a joke that it could lose this game outright to be totally honest. Temple has one of the better defenses in the country and if the Nittany Lions struggled to score against Indiana, this game shouldn't be any different. This game will come down to the wire.
