The North Carolina Tar Heels travel down the road to Duke to play the Blue Devils on Thursday night.

The North Carolina Tar Heels improved to 5-5, 3-3 ACC after beating Pittsburgh at home 40-35 last weekend. The Tar Heels have won three of their last four games, beating Georgia Tech and Virginia while losing at Miami. Against Pittsburgh, the Tar Heels allowed 523 total yards and forced one turnover in the win. North Carolina allowed the Panthers to rush for 305 yards, but held them to only 14 points in the second half. North Carolina’s defense is allowing a whopping 41.2 points per game on average this season. Offensively, QB Marquise Williams completed 23 of 40 passes for 276 yards and 1 touchdown. Williams also rushed for 122 yards and 3 touchdowns. WR Ryan Switzer caught a team high 3 balls for 68 yards and 1 touchdown. RB T.J. Logan carried the ball 18 times for 92 yards and a score. The Tar Heels offense is averaging an impressive 35.9 points per game, which ranks 24th in the country. North Carolina will head out on the road for the sixth and final time this season; the Tar Heels are a lousy 1-4 on the road this year.

Duke Blue Devils vs. North Carolina Tar Heels - 11/20/14 College Football Pick, Odds, and Prediction

USA TODAY Sports

The Duke Blue Devils dropped to 8-2, 4-2 ACC after losing at home to Virginia Tech 17-16 on Saturday. The Blue Devils had won four straight games against Georgia Tech, Virginia, Pittsburgh, and Syracuse before losing last weekend. The only two games Duke has failed to win this year are against a solid Miami team and a desperate Virginia Tech squad. Last weekend, the Blue Devils allowed only 293 total yards and forced one turnover. The Blue Devils held the Hokies to only 2 of 15 on 3rd down. Duke ranks 11th in the country in points allowed, allowing an average of 18.1 points per game. Offensively, QB Anthony Boone completed only 18 of 40 passes for 181 yards and threw two costly interceptions. Boone rushed for 34 yards, while RB Josh Snead rushed for 54 yards and 1 touchdown. WR Jamison Crowder caught a team-high 6 balls for 73 yards for Duke. The Blue Devils offense is averaging a solid 32.9 points per game, which ranks 46th this season. Duke will play their last two games at home; the Blue Devils are 4-1 at Wallace Wade Stadium this year.

Duke has won two of the last three matchups with North Carolina; including a 27-25 win last year at North Carolina. The Blue Devils will be angry and determined to bounce back after their loss to Virginia Tech last week. Duke still has a chance to earn a spot in the ACC championship game, but they need to win out to keep their hopes alive. North Carolina has been playing well offensively, but is still struggling on defense to say the least. I believe Duke will have no problem putting up a ton of points against the weak Tar Heel defense and the Blue Devils defense will make enough stops to win and cover on Thursday night.
