The Florida Gators travel to Doak Campbell Stadium to play the Florida State Seminoles on Saturday.
The Florida Gators improved to 6-4, 4-4 SEC after beating Eastern Kentucky 52-3 last weekend at home. The Gators have won three of their last four and are playing much better football then the start of the season. On the season, the Florida defense is allowing only 20.9 points per game, which ranks 23rd in the country. The Gators have allowed 20, 10, 20, and 3 points in their last four games. Offensively, the Gators are averaging 31.6 points per contest, which ranks an average 46th in the nation. QB Treon Harris, who has played over Jeff Driskel for the last month, has thrown for 727 yards with 6 touchdowns and 1 interception this year. Harris has also rushed for 250 yards and 3 scores. RB Matt Jones leads the team with 788 yards rushing with 6 touchdowns. WR Demarcus Robinson has a team-high 43 catches for 703 yards and 7 touchdowns for the Gators. Florida is already bowl eligible, but with a win over the defending champs, the Gators could be looking at a solid bowl appearance to end their season. Florida will head out on the road where they are 2-1 this season.

The Florida State Seminoles improved to 11-0, 8-0 ACC after beating Boston College at home 20-17 last weekend. The Seminoles remained perfect despite struggling for most of the game. Florida State allowed 313 total yards, 240 rushing yards, and did not force one turnover in the win. On the season, the Seminoles defense is allowing only 22.3 points per game, which ranks a solid 29th in the country. The Florida State offense is averaging an impressive 35.5 points per game, which ranks in the top 30 in the country. Against the Eagles, QB Jameis Winston completed 22 of 32 passes for 281 yards with 1 touchdown and 1 interception. WR Rashad Greene caught a team-high 8 balls for 106 yards, while RB Dalvin Cook had a team best 76 rushing yards. The Seminoles will have one more matchup in the ACC championship following this weekend’s game before they can earn the right to play in the FBS playoff. Florida State will stay at home for this game; the Seminoles are a perfect 6-0 at home this season.
Florida State has won three of the last four meetings, including a 37-7 win at Florida last season. This Florida team has improved dramatically as the season has gone on and I think they have what it takes on defense to control the Seminoles rushing attack and passing game. Florida State has not deserved to win every game this season and I think this may be the time when they finally fall to an opponent. I think this will be a low scoring game and the Gators will find a way to put enough points on the board to come away with the cover. I also wouldn’t be surprised if the Gators straight up won the game, so a money line play is definitely tempting.
