Georgia Tech improved to 9-2, 6-2 ACC after beating Clemson 28-6 two weeks ago at home. The Yellow Jackets have won four straight games over Pittsburgh, Virginia, NC State, and now the Tigers. On the season, the Yellow Jackets defense is allowing 24.1 points per game, which ranks 45th in the country. Offensively, the Yellow Jackets are averaging 37.8 points per contest, which ranks an impressive 14th in the country. Georgia Tech is ranked 4th in rushing yards per game, averaging over 327 yards on the ground. QB Justin Thomas has thrown for 1,396 yards with 15 touchdowns and only 4 interceptions. Thomas has also rushed for a team-high 827 yards and 5 touchdown runs. RB Zach Laskey has added 608 yards on the ground and 5 touchdowns for the Yellow Jackets. Georgia Tech has already earned the right to play Florida State in the ACC championship game on December 6th. The Yellow Jackets will head out on the road after having two weeks to prepare for this one. The Yellow Jackets are 4-1 on the road this year.

The Georgia Bulldogs improved to 9-2, 6-2 SEC after beating Charleston Southern 55-9 last week. The Bulldogs have won 8 of their last 9, beating the likes of Tennessee, Missouri, Arkansas, and Auburn during that stretch. On the season, the Bulldogs defense is allowing only 20.5 points per game, which ranks 18th in the country. The Georgia offense is averaging 43.3 points per game, which ranks an outstanding 7th in the country. QB Huston Mason has completed over 68% of his passes for 1,825 yards with 19 touchdowns and only 3 interceptions. WR Chris Conley has hauled in 29 balls for a team-high 532 yards and 7 touchdowns for Georgia. RB Nick Chubb, who is replacing Todd Gurley as the starting running back, has rushed for 1,152 yards and 11 touchdowns this season. Georgia will look to improve their resume and try to earn a spot in a big bowl game this season. The Bulldogs will play their final home game of the season; Georgia is 6-1 at home this season.
Georgia has won the last five meetings with Georgia Tech, including a 41-34 win last season on the road. Georgia has been playing great, winners of 8 of their last 9 games, with some blowout wins over their conference opponents. Even without Gurley this team is outstanding all around and will make things difficult for Georgia Tech. The Yellow Jackets will look to pound the ball on the ground and I just don’t know if they will have that much success. Georgia slowed down Auburn and I think they will slow down the Yellow Jackets too. Georgia Tech is a good team but they are overmatched in this one. Having said that, I still think with two weeks to prepare the Yellow Jackets will keep it close and cover the spread.
