The Line: Southern Cal Trojans -7 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds

The USC Trojans and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish face off on Saturday for the Jeweled Shillelagh in college football rivalry action.

The USC Trojans are loaded with talent but with none of that talent in the Head Coaching department they have underachieved and are 7-4 this season. The USC offense is averaging 33.8 points and 441.5 yards per game and they have the luxury of QB Cody Kessler who has completed 69.7 percent of his passes with 30 touchdowns and four interceptions. Javorius Allen leads the Southern Cal ground game with 1,244 yards and nine touchdowns and Nelson Agholor has 85 receptions and 10 touchdowns. The USC defense allows 24.6 points and 4-2.6 yards with 20 takeaways and 26 sacks. Hayes Pullard has 84 tackles, Leonard Williams has 66 tackles, and Su’a Cravens has 15 tackles for a loss. USC will have plenty of players picked in the NFL Draft but their talent has been squandered by the coaching staff.

USC vs. Notre Dame - 11/29/14 College Football Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are 7-4 this season as it has been a disappointing second half of the season. The Notre Dame offense has been turning the ball over but they averaging 34.7 points and 453.3 yards per game led by QB Everett Golson who has completed 61.1 percent of his passes with 29 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. Tarean Folston leads the ND rushing attack with 802 yards and five touchdowns and Will Fuller is the leading receiver with 66 catches. The Notre Dame defense has suffered sine the loss of Joe Schmidt for the season and they are allowing 27.5 points and 385.5 yards per game with 22 takeaways and 22 sacks. Jaylon Smith has 89 tackles, Elijah Shumate has 51 tackles, and Max Redfield has 49 tackles. Between the issues in the kicking game, turning the ball over, and a defense that has fallen apart the Irish seem to be coming undone at the seams.

USC is 4-1 against the spread following a game that they didn’t cover the point spread, 7-3 against the spread in their last 10 home games, and 1-4 against the spread against a team with a winning record. Notre Dame is 5-1 against the spread against the Pac-12, 6-2 against the spread against a team with a winning record, and 0-4 against the spread following a loss. Notre Dame has covered the point spread in four of the last five meetings of these two.

The line looks to be a little on the high side even though the Irish defense has become a sieve but USC’s lack of a solid Head Coach makes a blowout unlikely.
