The Vanderbilt Commodores and the Tennessee Volunteers face off on Saturday in Nashville in a SEC college football rivalry game.
The Vanderbilt Commodores are having a tough year as they just haven’t been competitive in their SEC games this season. The Vanderbilt offense is averaging 17.2 points and 290.3 yards per game and are led by QB Johnny McCrary who has completed 52.4 percent of his passes with nine touchdowns and seven interceptions. Ralph Webb leads Vandy in rushing with 857 yards and Steven Scheu is the Commodores leading receiver with 36 receptions. The Vanderbilt defense is allowing 34.1 points per game and 414.8 yards with 11 takeaways and 15 sacks. Nigel Bowden has 74 tackles, Torren McGaster has 64 tackles, and Zach Cunningham has 60 tackles. Vanderbilt has some holes to fill in recruiting.

The Tennessee Volunteers have five wins this season meaning they need a win in this one to become bowl eligible. The Tennessee offense is averaging 27.9 points and 372.2 yards per game and they are led by QB Joshua Dobbs who has completed 62.5 percent of his passes with eight touchdowns and three interceptions and he has rushed for 302 yards and four touchdowns. Jalen Hurd leads Tennessee in rushing with 756 yards and 33 receptions and Alton Howard has 47 receptions. The Tennessee defense is allowing 24.5 points and 367.9 yards with 19 takeaways and 32 sacks. A.J.Johnson was suspended but he leads in tackles with 101, Jalen Reeves-Maybin has83 tackles, and Derek Barnet and Curt Maggitt each have nine sacks. Tennessee is ready to take a step forward and they are just a few players away from being a lot more competitive in the SEC.
Vanderbilt is 12-5 against the spread following a game that they didn’t cover the spread, 7-3 against the spread in their last 10 SEC games, and 2-6 against the spread in their last 10 home games. Tennessee is 5-0 against the spread on the road against a team with a losing home record, 5-1 against the spread following a loss, and 4-1 against the spread following a game that they didn’t cover the spread. The underdog has covered the spread in five of the last seven meetings of these two.
the total is set at 49.5 and in a rivalry game with both offenses suspect the play here is the under. I also have a pick on who will cover the spread and I will post that in the Premium Area as well as on the App.
