The Popeyes Bahama Bowl features a battle between the Central Michigan Chippewas and the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers.

The Central Michigan Chippewas missed out on the postseason a year ago but not this time around with wins in five of seven to finish at 7-5. Many don't associate the MAC with defense but this was this team's strength with just 331 yards allowed with a top 20 run D that gave up less then 120 yards. The pass defense gave up 211 yards so this unit wasn't easy to throw on and everything adds up to only 23 points given up. The Chippewas attack was plain vanilla in the scope of things with 380 yards and 25 points scored with rushing and passing games that both ranked around #70. Quarterback Cooper Rush had a solid campaign with nearly a 64% completion rate for 2,664 yards with 20 TD's and 12 picks. Titus Davis was the top target in the air with 843 yards with Jesse Kroll and Deon Butler combining for over 800 yards. When the Chips ran the ball Thomas Rawls was usually doing the work with 1,105 yards and a 5 1/2 yard average and ten scores.

If you watched any Western Kentucky Hilltoppers games you had to be a fan of offense because they scored a ton of points and opponents did much the same. Needless to say this was an offense first and only squad. The defense gave up just over 500 yards with 272 in the air and 230 on the ground with 39 points scored so this unit wasn't far from the bottom of the college ranks at #123 overall. On the flip side the offense was prolific with 528 yards and 44 points with the third rang passing attack that averged 365 yards. The Hilltoppers were 'average' on the ground at 163 yards but they didn't run all that much. Having said that, Leon Allen was above average with almost 1,500 yards and 5.8 yard average with 12 TD's. However this offense was all about Brandon Doughty with 4,344 passing yards with 44 touchdowns and ten INT's. Taywan Taylor and Jared Dangerfield were the top receivers with 739 and 738 yards with six others averaging between 330 yards and 510 yards.

The Chippewas are 4-0-1 ATS in their last 5 Wednesday games with the over going 4-0 in Chippewas last 4 games on grass while the Chippewas are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games on grass. For Western Kentucky the over is 5-0-1 in Hilltoppers last 6 games after accumulating more than 280 yards passing in their previous game while the Hilltoppers are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games after allowing more than 450 total yards in their previous game and are 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games after allowing more than 280 yards passing in their previous game. To make a long story short I think we'll see points here so right now I'm on the over...
