The Line: LSU Tigers -7.5 -- Over/Under: 52 See the Latest Odds

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish and the LSU Tigers face off on Tuesday at LP Field in the Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish had a disappointing end tot heir season losing their last four games and five of their last six. The Notre Dame offense is averaging 33 points and 444.6 yards per game and will be led by QB Malik Zaire who saw light action completing 45 percent of his passes and rushing for 91 yards as he starts over Everett Golson who threw 29 touchdown passes but had 14 interceptions and several fumbles during he losing streak. Tarean Folston leads ND in rushing with 816 yards and five touchdowns and Will Fuller leads the Fighting Irish in receiving with 71 catches and 14 touchdowns. The Notre Dame defense struggled late in the season and for the year allowed 29.2  points and 401.5 yards per game with 22 takeaways and 24 sacks. Jaylon Smith has 103 tackles, Elijah Shumate had 64 tackles, and Matthias Farley and Luke Cole each had four interceptions. The Notre Dame defense was never the same after Joe Schmidt was lost for the season.

The LSU Tigers had a rebuilding year and finished the season at 8-4 but they are loaded with young talent and the future is looking bright. The LSU offense is averaging  27.6 points and 383.4 yards per game and they are led by QB Anthony Jennings who has completed 48.8 percent of his passes with 10 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. Leonard Fournette leads the Tigers rushing attack with 891 yards and eight touchdowns and Travin Dural leads in receiving with 37 catches and seven touchdowns. The LSU defense is allowing 16.4 points and 305.8 yards per game with 20 takeaways and 19 sacks. Kwon Alexander has 79 tackles, Kendall Beckwith has 68 tackles, and Ronald Martin has 66 tackles. LSU won four of their last six games with their losses coming to Arkansas and Alabama.

Notre Dame is 2-6 against the spread in their last eight bowl games, 0-5 against the spread in their last five games, and 0-5 against the spread following a loss by 20 or more points. LSU is 4-0 against the spread in their last four non-conference games, 4-1 against the spread against a team with a winning record, and 1-4 against the spread in their last five bowl games.

The total in this one seems to be about right but for my free pick it is just a lean to the over as LSU should be able to move the ball and I expect Brian Kelly to pull out all of the pages from the playbook and be wide open with the ND offense.
