The LSU Tigers take the field with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the Franklin American Mortgage Music City Bowl.
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish were nationally ranked at 6-0 at one point but ended up in a four game slide to close the season. The Irish gave up around 402 yards and 29 points with opponents having some success on the ground and in the air so there was not an area that was an obvious strength. The offense produced 445 yards and 33 points with the #16 passing game leading the way with 294 yards. The bottom line for this offense was Everett Golson and whether he was making throws or mistakes. Golson threw for 3,355 yards with 29 TD's and 14 picks with receiver of choice William Fuller posting 1,037 yards and 14 scores. Tarean Folston was the most productive runner with 816 yards but the Irish chose to air it out more often then not.

The LSU Tigers didn't come close to winning the SEC but a 4-4 record in the toughest conference in the nation says this was a pretty good team. The 8-4 Tigers were led by the #8 defense in the land that allowed 306 yards and a mere 16 points with only 162 yards given up through the air which was a top five ranking. The offense was plain vanilla for the most part with 383 yards and around 28 points but the ground game was outstanding with almost 220 yards to rank #29. Quarterback Anthony Jennings wasn't an accurate passer at 49% completions for 1,460 yards for ten scores and seven picks with Travin Dural the only receiver of consequence with 758 yards on 37 catches. Leonard Fournette paced LSU on the ground with 891 yards while Terrence McGee and Kenny Hilliard combined for almost 1,000 yards.
The over is 4-0 in Fighting Irish last 4 games after allowing more than 450 total yards in their previous game and is 4-0 in Fighting Irish last 4 games following a ATS loss while the Fighting Irish are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games on grass. For Louisiana State the under is 4-0 in Tigers last 4 games following a ATS win and is 4-0 in Tigers last 4 games after allowing less than 20 points in their previous game while going 5-0 in Tigers last 5 games after accumulating more than 450 total yards in their previous game. I'm not really in love with either team and I hate laying a touchdown but right now perhaps the under has some value...
