College Football Preview: The 2015 Texas A&M Aggies
Texas A&M Aggies Football Preview 2014 Record 8-5 Won Autozone Liberty Bowl 45-37 vs West Virginia
Overview: Texas A&M finished last season with a record 8-5. The Aggies offense had no problem putting up points on the board. Their problem was on the defensive side of the ball. Coach Sumlin addressed these problems this offseason and hired a new defense of coordinator John Chavis who was previously at LSU.
Offense: Sophomore quarterback Kyle Allen didn’t start the whole season but he still passed for 1332 yards with 16 touchdowns and 7 interceptions. He showed a lot of talent and should have a great season has the full time starter. Senior running back Tra Carson was limited in his carries in a pass first offense but he still managed to run for 581 yards and 5 touchdowns. The Aggies return 3 of their top 4 receivers from last season in Josh Reynolds Speedy Noil and Ricky Seals-Jones. These 3 combined for 147 receptions and over 1700 yards with 22 touchdowns. Look for this offense will pick up right where they left off.

Defense: Texas A&M’s defense was their biggest problem last season. They went out and hired defensive coordinator John Chavis to try to fix their problems. Their defense is lead by Myles Garret who recorded 53 tackles and 11.5 sacks. Defensive tackle Alonzo Williams finished last season with 57 tackles and 4,5 sacks. He will need help applying pressure up front. Their secondary is lead by De’Vante Harris. Last season he recorded 53 tackles and 1 interception. John Chavis will need to fix this defense if Texas A&M wants to have a good season.
Special Teams: Drew Kaser will return and be the Aggies punter this season. He averaged 44 yards a punt last season and had 22 punts inside the 20 yard line. Senior Taylor Bertolet will be the kicker this year. He wasn’t the kicker last year but the previous 2 years he was 15-25 in field goals.
Overall: Texas A&M will continue to have success on offense but their defense needs to improve. I expect Kyle Allen to have a breakout year at quarterback, but I don’t think they will fix the defense this year. I expect another 8-5 type of season from the Aggies.
