College Football: Thursday, September 3, 2015 at 10:00 pm (Arizona Stadium)

The Line: Arizona Wildcats -30.5 -- Over/Under: 50 See the Latest Odds

TV: Pac-12 Network

The Arizona Wildcats and the Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners face off on Thursday Night as they open their 2015 college football seasons.

The Arizona Wildcats have reasonable expectations heading into their 2015 college football season and are ranked 22nd in the nation in the preseason poll. Arizona finished last season at 10-4 with a big win over Arizona State to close out the regular season. QB Anu Solomon is back for his sophomore season and he figures to even better than the huge upside surprise he was last season. Cayleb Jones is the Cats top target through the air but Samajie Grant has a ton of talent as well. Running back Nick Wilson is coming off of an impressive freshman season for U of A where he ran for 1, 375 yards and 16 touchdowns. Arizona will need to replace three starters on the offensive line but they have three seniors on the interior. Defensively Scooby Wright III is one of the top defenders at any position in the nation and the winner of the Nagurski and Bednerik Awards. Consistency was the issue for Arizona last season but with more experience at QB they could be more consistent.

Arizona vs. UTSA - 9/3/15 College Football Pick, Odds, and Prediction

USA TODAY Sports

The UTSA Roadrunners struggled last season and they may do plenty more of the same as Larry Coker’s team doesn’t return much as far as starters. Blake Bogenschultz should be the starter for UTSA at QB after starting one game last season and throwing two interceptions while completing a less than inspiring 56 percent of his passes. UTSA’s brightest spot could be at RB where Jarveon Williams has seen action. Tight End David Morgan II might be another bright spot for the Roadrunners and Kenny Bias and Aaron Grubb look to be the receivers. The o-line has no experience and will be a trouble spot. The UTSA defense returns just three starters but they do have several players who rotated in last year. Bennett Okotcha is a former transfer from Oklahoma and is Texas-San Antonio’s top corner, linebacker Drew Douglas was third in tackles last season and is the leader of the defense, and Jason Neal leads the DL from the end spot. This season has the potential to be very ugly for UTSA and any upside would be a surprise.

Arizona is 1-4 against the spread in their last five games against Conference-USA, 1-6 against the spread in their last seven home games, and 2-5 against the spread in their last seven games. UTSA is 1-4 against the spread in their last five road games, 9-3 against the spread in their last 12 non-conference games, and 2-8 against the spread in their last 10 games.

With the total set at 52 it is just a lean but my free pick is under the total. My stronger pick is on the winning team against the spread and I will post that in the Premium Area as well as on the App.
