TV: CBS

The Auburn Tigers and the Louisville Cardinals face off on Saturday in the Georgia Dome as they kick off their 2015 college football seasons.

The Auburn Tigers are coming off of an 8-5 season where they played a brutal schedule and it just doesn’t get much easier this year. With Nick Marshall gone at Auburn turns to Jeremy Johnson who takes over at QB and when we have seen him he looked very good. Javon Robinson and Roc Thomas should power what has been a powerful ground attack for the Tigers that always produces under Gus Malzahn. The Auburn receivers may get more touches this season and D’haquille Williams and Ricardo Louis are experienced. Will Muschamp takes over as the Auburn defensive coordinator which needs help but Cassanova McKinzy returns as does Kris Frost and Jonathan Ford and I expect the Tigers to be tough up front with solid recruits. Auburn has a ton of talent but a brutal schedule to go with it.

Auburn vs. Louisville - 9/5/15 College Football Pick, Odds, and Prediction

USA TODAY Sports

It is year two for the Louisville Cardinals in the ACC and year two of the Bobby Petrino era. Louisville won nine games last year but never settled on a QB and they look t be in the same boat though Reggie Bonnafon looks to be the starter. Brandon Radcliff led the UL rushing attack late in the season especially in the win over Notre Dame and he should be better this time around. Someone will need to step for Louisville at WR where all of the stars are gone but James Quick has a world of potential. The wildcard for the Cardinals defense is DeVonte Fields who was the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year and has transferred to Louisville where he has been cleared to play but he still needs to get into shape. Meanwhile Louisville was 10th in the nation in defense last season and while they need to replace a ton but Josh Harvey-Clemmons could be a superstar at safety , James Burgess provides senior leadership at LB and DeAngelo Brown s going to be tough to push around on he nose. Nothing Bobby Petrino’s teams accomplish surprises me so look for Louisville to be under the radar tough once again.

Auburn is 5-2 against the spread in neutral site games, 3-7 against the spread against the ACC, and 0-4 against the spread in their last four non-conference games. Louisville is 5-2 against the spread in their last seven September games.

I believe Auburn’s defense will be improved but I am not willing to give this many points to a Bobby Petrino coached team given this much time to prepare especially with a team with a first year QB.
