The Florida A&M Rattlers battle instate foe the South Florida Bulls in the season opener for both schools.
The MEAC finished the 2014 season with five teams tied for first but the Florida A&M Rattlers were not one of them with a 3-9 record. The Rattlers were a defense first squad that were outscored by opponents 26-17 and that probably won’t change much with changes under center with Akil Blount (62 T) leading a strong linebacking corps. The big loss is quarterback Damien Fleming takes over 2,100 passing yards to graduation which likely leaves Carson Royale as the likely starter after a strong spring. Brandon Norwood (36-516) leads a receiver by committee receiving corps with Montavius Williams (27-332) option number two. Gerald Hearns led the ground attack with 533 yards with Tysean Holloway next in line with 239 yards.

The South Florida Bulls head in to the 2015 season looking to improve on their 4-8 campaign of a year ago. If the Bulls are going to improve the scoreboard needs to change where they were outscored 27-17. Three star quarterback Quinton Flowers will be under center after throwing 20 passes in 2014 although he has shown some running ability. Marlon Mack ran for over 1,000 yards and will be the focal point of the attack especially with top three receivers gone. The O-Line might need a few games to gel but looks like it will be solid with numerous three star athletes. The defense has plenty of stopping power against the run but will need to tighten up versus the pass.
The Rattlers are 1-7 ATS in their last 8 non-conference games and are 1-7 ATS in their last 8 road games while going 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games overall. The under is 4-0 in Bulls last 4 home games and South Florida are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall while the under is 7-2-1 in Bulls last 10 games in September. I can see South Florida pounding the Rattlers or their instate rival putting up just enough fight to cover…
