The Line: Texas A&M Aggies -3 -- Over/Under: 66 See the Latest Odds
The Texas A&M Aggies and the Arizona State Sun Devils face off on Saturday in Houston as they kick off their 2015 college football seasons.
The Texas A&M Aggies got off to a strong start last season but their lack of defense caught up with them as they struggled. Kyle Allen is back at QB for Texas A&M and he was impressive last year as a freshman after starting the season on he bench. The Aggies return a ton of talent at the skill positions as Speedy Noll and Ricky Seals-Jones are as good as any receivers and running back Tra Carson is due for a breakout. While Kevin Sumlin has a good grasp of the offense, he hired defensive coordinator John Chavis away from LSU to try and rebuild the Aggies unit. Texas A&M’s defense is led by Myles Garrett who should be one of the top pass rushers in the nation, linebacker Otaro Alaka was the MVP of the Liberty Bowl, and De’Vante Harris is a four year starter in the secondary. Drew Kaser is one of the top punters in the country and but will that be enough to turn around the Texas A&M defense.

The Arizona State Sun Devils have been string since the arrival of head coach Todd Graham but when they had their big chance against Arizona to make it to the Pac-12 title game they cam up short. ASU is led by QB Mike Bercovici who looked solid in his three starts last season. D.J. Foster will be an integral part of the Sun Devils offense both carrying and receiving the football and Gary Chambers and Cameron Smith hope to contribute to a decimate ASU receiving corps. Jordan Simone anchors the Arizona State secondary, Demetrius Cherry is the devil that is primarily a pass rusher, and Antonio Longino is a senior at WILL. ASU looked fantastic a times last season and games like Arizona they looked like hey couldn’t get out of their own way, which team will we see more of this season.
Texas A&M is 2-7 against the spread in their last nine games, 3-11 against the spread in neutral site games, and 8-3 against the spread in September. Arizona State is 2-5 against the spread in their last seven non-conference games and 1-6 against the spread in their last seven neutral site games.
The total in this one is set at 66 and I don’t expect to see the punters much if at all so my free pick is the over. My stronger pick is on the winning team against the spread and I will post that in the Premium Area as well as on the App.
