The San Jose State Spartans shoot for their second win when they visit MWC rival the Air Force Falcons.

The San Jose State Spartans were supposed to get a tough battle from FCS New Hampshire but that was far from the case in a 43-13 rout of the visiting Wildcats. This was over quick with the Spartans jumping to a 20-0 lead after one quarter and never looking back. SJSU rolled up over 700 yards and limited New Hampshire to a mere 186 yards while dominating time of possession with over 40 minutes. Joe Gray gave SJSU an almost perfect effort through the air with 253 yards and a touchdown on 16-20 with five receivers accounting for 59-76 yards. Tyler Ervin paced the Spartans on the ground with 127 yards on 20 touches with three touchdowns while Thomas Tucker added 74 yards on 19 carries and a pair of scores.

Air Force Falcons Vs. San Jose State Spartans - 9/12/15 College Football Pick, Odds, and Prediction

USA TODAY Sports

The Air Force Falcons kicked off the new campaign with a 63-7 pummeling of visiting Morgan State. Numbers don’t always tell the story but did in this case as the Falcons dominated in all phases with 513 yards and no turnover while the Bears were held to 195 yards and a pair of giveaways with Roland Lapido logging a 22 yard pick six. Nate Romine gave AFA a short but productive passing game with 119 yards on 4-7 with a 24 yard TD throw to Jalen Robinette and a 35 yard strike to Alex Ludowig. DJ Johnson and Benton Washington led the Falcons on the ground with144 yards on 17 touched with each scoring while 16 players posted carries with the bench emptied early. The Air Force special teams was also involved with Garrett Brown scoring on a 78 yard punt return.

Both teams were impressive in their respective openers as Air Force did exactly what they were supposed to do against a weaker FCS opponent. The Falcons ran and threw without an issue and the defense and special teams each were productive. San Jose State was far better then I anticipated versus a solid FCS squad in New Hampshire who never had a chance. Right or wrong the Spartans opened my eyes and I’ll take a shot with the points…
