The Arkansas Razorbacks and the Toledo Rockets face off on Saturday at War Memorial Stadium in college football action.
The Arkansas Razorbacks are still rolling off of last season’s strong finish as they are off to a 1-0 start after beating UTEP. Razorback QB Brandon Allen looked in midseason form in the opener completing 14 of 18 passes for 308 yards and four touchdowns. Arkansas’s rushing attack looked strong as well as Alex Collins ran for 127 yards and a touchdown with 70 of those yards coming on one run while WR Keon Hatcher looks primed for a big year catching six passes with two of those being for touchdowns. While the Arkansas defense allowed completed passes they didn’t allow a lot of yards allowing just 204 yards and 13 points. Jeremiah Ledbetter led the Hogs with eight tackles while Josh Williams, Khalia Hackett, and Brooks Ellis had seven tackles each. Arkansas looks primed to take the next step in the SEC.

The Toledo Rockets didn’t play last week so this is their season opening game. While Toledo is loaded at several position they lost all five starters on the O-Line and it is a serious concern especially facing a much bigger team like they are here. Toledo’s QB is former Alabama transfer Phillip Ely who is recovering from an injury. The Rockets running game is strong with Kareem Hunt who rushed for over 1,600 yards last season while Alonzo Russell is an NFL type receiver. The Toledo defense appears to be a strength with plenty of experience. The Rockets DL will be anchored by Treyvon Hester and Orion Jones while Trent Voss is also a playmaker. Chase Norris is the best of the Toledo linebackers and Jordan Martin and Cheatham Norris anchor a very experienced secondary. Toledo has the skill players and experience on defense to win the MAC but beating a SEC team on the road might be a different strory.
Arkansas is 6-0 against the spread in their last six non-conference games, 5-1 against the spread following a win, and 2-5 against the spread in neutral site games. Toledo is 3-0-1 against the spread in their last four games, 1-3-1 against the spread in their last four neutral site games, and 1-4 against the spread in September games.
I expect Arkansas to dominate but Toledo has enough weapons that they should be able to put at least some points on the board and I see them getting the cover but Arkansas winning the game.
