The Ole Miss Rebels and the Fresno State Bulldogs face off on Saturday in Oxford in college football action.
The Ole Miss Rebels had a walk in the park for their season opener putting up 76 points against FCS Tennessee-Martin. Mississippi QB Chad Kelly completed 60 percent of his passes for 211 yards and two touchdowns before giving way to the backups. Jaylen Walton was explosive in the backfield for the Rebels rushing for 65 yards and two touchdowns on three carries and Laquon Treadwell returned from last season’s injury to lead Ole Miss with four receptions. Tony Bridges led the Ole Miss defense with six tackles, A.J. Moore had five including a sack, and Channing Ward was among those with four tackles. While Ole Miss should be strong this season it was tough to tell much against their overmatched opponent.

The Fresno State Bulldogs also opened with a FCS opponent as they topped Abeline Christian in week one. FSU QB Zack Greenlee completed just 43.8 percent of his passes for 156 yards and three touchdowns while tossing an interception. Marteze Waller led the Bulldogs in rushing with 154 yards and Keyan Williams had seven receptions. The Fresno State defense allowed just 247 yards including only 34 rushing. Shannon Edwards, Stratton Brown, and Ejiro Ederaine each had six tackles to lead the FSU defense. Going on the road against a SEC opponent the Bulldogs will need to play much better to have success this week.
Ole Miss is 6-2-1- against the spread in their last nine home games, 4-1 against the spread at home against a team with a winning road record, and 2-5 against the spread in their last seven games. Fresno State is 3-8 against the spread in their last 11 non-conference games, 1-4 against the spread against the SEC, and 16-7 against the spread in their last 23 road games against a team with a winning record.
This is a tough one as neither gave us much to look at in week one but Ole Miss should wear down Fresno and cover the spread late.
