The Texas A&M Aggies and the Ball State Cardinals face off on Saturday in College Station in college football action.
The Texas A&M Aggies were impressive in week one taking on a ranked Arizona State team and blowing a close game wide open late. Texas A&M QB Kyle Allen was impressive though he completed just 57 percent of his passes he had 198 yards and threw for two touchdowns while Kyler Murray added a different dimension but he was more effective running rushing for 69 yards on six runs. Tra Carson led the Texas A&M rushing attack rushing for 96 yards and a touchdown while Christian Kirk was explosive in the receiving and return game catching six passes for 106 yards and taking a return to the house while Ricky Seals-Jones also had six grabs. The Texas A&M defense looked vastly improved allowing 92 yards on the ground and less than 200 yards through the air while registering nine sacks and recovering two fumbles. Armani Watts had 10 tackles to lead the Aggies and Justin Evans had nine tackles as Daeshon Hall had four sacks, and Donovan Wilson and Myles Garrett had two sacks each. While Texas A&M got off to an impressive start least season, this year it may have been even more impressive.

The Ball State Cardinals offense looked to be ready for their season opener the defense definitely didn’t as they beat FCS VMI. Ball State QB Jack Milas completed 65 percent of his passes for 338 yards and a touchdown. Ted Williamson led the Cardinals in rushing with 74 yards, Darian Green had 73 yards and three touchdowns, and James Gilbert had 61 yards and two touchdowns and KeVonn Mabon had seven receptions. Defensively Ball State was gouged allowing 444 yards through the air and 547 total yards to VMI. Sean Wiggins was Ball Sate’s leading tackler with 10, Dedrick Cromartie had nine tackles, and Joshua Posley had eight tackles. Ball State will need to step it up significantly on defense to stay in this game.
Texas A&M is 7-3 against the spread in their last 10 non-conference games, 3-7 against the spread in their last 10 games, and 1-6 against the spread in their last seven home games. Ball State is 4-1 against the spread against a team with a winning record, 1-4 against the spread in their last five games, and 1-5 against the spread in their last six non-conference games.
This is a tough one because Texas A&M was so impressive last week the public is all over them but Ball State’s defense was so bad I can see the Aggies putting up a ton of points. I can see Ball State scoring plenty of points in garbage time that we might be glad to have to points so I will take them but this is a lean at very best.
