The Oregon State Beavers and San Jose State Spartans face off on Saturday in Corvallis in a college football matchup.

The Oregon State Beavers played a strong first half at Michigan but a miscue in the waning moments of the half was the start of their undoing as they lost to the Wolverines and fell to 1-1 for the season. The OSU offense is averaging 16.5 points and 264.5 yards per game that just doesn’t get it done. Beavers QB Seth Collins has completed 55.9 percent of his passes with three touchdowns and he has rushed for 180 yards. Chris Brown is OSU’s top running back with just 87 yards and Jordan Villamin has seven receptions and Victor Bolden has six receptions. The Oregon State defense is allowing 21 points and 291.5 yards per game with four sacks, a fumble recovery, and two interceptions. Rommel Mageo leads Oregon State in tackles with 19 along with two sacks and an interception and Justin Strong, Cyril Noland-Lewis and Caleb Saulo have 11 tackles each. Oregon State will improve as the season goes on but they are lacking an experienced QB and it shows often thus far.

Oregon State vs. San Jose State - 9/19/15 College Football Pick, Odds, and Prediction

USA TODAY Sports

The San Jose State Spartans had a win in week one but lost last week to Air Force. The SJSU offense is averaging 29.5 points and 498.5 yards per game but they have been hit hard by penalties. San Jose State is going with a rotating QB system with Joe Gray completing 71.1 percent of his passes with a touchdown and Kenny Potter completing 69 percent with a touchdown. The Spartans rushing attack is led by Tyler Ervin who is averaging 7.8 yards per carry with four touchdowns and Tyler Winston is San Jose State’s leading receiver with 11 catches and Tim Crawley has nine. The San Jose State defense is allowing 25 points and 319 yards per game with one sack and one interception. Christian Tago is SJSU’s leading tackler with 21, Maurice McKnight has 14, and Vincente Miles has 13. SJSU will need everything they have to quiet the crowd in Corvallis.

Oregon State is 1-4 against the spread following a loss, 1-7 against the spread in their last 10 games, and 0-5 against the spread in their last five road games. San Jose State is 2-5 against the spread in their last seven non-conference games, 1-7 against the spread in their last eight games, and 0-5 against the spread in their last five road games.

The Oregon State offense has just been ineffective and while they can win this game I don’t see it being by more than a touchdown.
