The Arkansas State Red Wolves will travel to the Glass Bowl to take on the Toledo Rockets this Saturday afternoon in College Football action.
The Arkansas State Red Wolves were able to pick up their first win of the season (1-2, 0-0 Sun Belt) after a 70-7 victory over the Missouri State Bears of the FCS. The Red Wolves had a tough opening few weeks to their season as they were dominated by the 8th ranked USC Trojans to open their season and lost a close 27-20 game to the 21st ranked Missouri Tigers in week 2. In their victory over Missouri State, the Red Wolves were able to outgain the Bears by 624-341 margin and forced the Bears into committing 3 turnovers. Leading the way for the Red Wolves was QB James Tabary (21 for 24, 255 yards, 3 TD’s) and WR JD McKissic (4 rec, 85 yards, 1 TD). The Red Wolves were able to gain 344 yards on the ground and had 4 players who rushed for 60+ yards. The rushing attack was led by Michael Gordon who had 92 yards and a TD on 9 carries. The Red Wolves are currently averaging 32.0 ppg while allowing 29.7 ppg. The Red Wolves will be hoping to have their starting QB Fredi Knighten back for their matchup against Toledo as he missed the Missouri State game due to a groin injury.

The Toledo Rockets were able to following from their impressive win against the 18th ranked Arkansas Razorbacks a week against to defeat the Iowa State Cyclones 30-23 in double OT to improve to 2-0 on the season. The Rockets were outgained by the Cyclones by a 481-309 margin and blew a 20-10 lead in the 4th quarter but was able to pull out a victory after DE Tre James was able to sack Iowa State QB Sam Richardson on 4th and Goal in double OT. The Rockets weren’t able to get much down through the air as starting QB Phillip Ely finished the game completing just 11 of 28 passes for 138 yards, 1 TD and 1 INT. The good news for the Rockets is that got back one of the best running backs in all of college football in Kareem Hunt who finished the game with 129 yards on 24 carries. Toledo’s defense is very strong up front as has been great early this season as they are allowing just 17.5 ppg against two Power 5 conference teams. The Rockets should be open up the passing game and get WR’s Alonzo Russell and Corey Jones more involved as the season continues know that opposing defenses will have to focus on stopping Kareem Hunt.
The Red Wolves are 9-1 ATS vs. a team with a winning record however, are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 road games. The Rockets are 4-0-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a S.U. win and 4-0-2 ATS in their last 6 games overall.
Arkansas State is a decent team but does rely heavily on their strong offensive attack which is led by QB Fredi Knighten who is questionable for the game. Toledo has a legitimate chance to go undefeated this season after their victories over Arkansas and Iowa State but will need to get more production from their passing game to defeat Arkansas State and some of the better MAC teams. This is going to be a close game but I think Toledo’s defense will be able to keep the Red Wolves from scoring many points and that Hunt and the other Rockers weapons put up another points to cover this spread. Take Toledo to cover.
