The Line: Central Michigan Chippewas +2.5 -- Over/Under: 51 See the Latest Odds

The Northern Illinois Huskies will travel to Kelly/Shorts Stadium to take on the Central Michigan Chippewas this Saturday afternoon in College Football action.

The Northern Illinois Huskies fell to 2-2 (0-0 MAC) after being defeated by the Boston College Eagles, 17-14 this past Saturday afternoon. It was the second straight tough road loss for the Huskies who dropped a tight 20-13 contest the week before against the number one ranked Ohio State Buckeyes. In their recent loss against the Eagles, the Huskies were only able to compile 153 yards of total offensive which included just 81 passing yards and 72 rushing yards. Offensively, Northern Illinois is led by duel threat quarterback Drew Hare who has 875 yards and 6 TD’s passing to go along with 87 rushing yards. The Huskies ground game is led by Joel Bourgeon who had 338 yards and 6 TD’s on 73 carries on the season. Leading the way for the Huskies receivers is Kenny Holladay who has 22 receptions for 383 yards and 2 TD’s. Northern Illinois has one of the best defensives in C-USA and are holding their current opponents to just 23.3 ppg including holding Ohio State and Boston College to just 37 combined points over the past two weeks. Leading the way for the Northern Illinois defense is LB Boomer Mays (31 tackles) and DB Paris Logan (17 tackles).

Central Michigan vs. Northern Illinois - 10/3/15 College Football Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The Central Michigan Chippewas couldn’t pull off the upset this past Saturday as they fell to the 2nd ranked Michigan State Spartans (1-3, 0-0 MAC) 30-10. The Chippewas were able to hang around with the Spartans as they were only down 17-10 heading into the fourth quarter. CMU was able to outgain the Spartans by a 340-324 margin but wasn’t able to get much going on the ground as they only gained 55 rushing yards in the loss. Leading the way for the Chippewas offense is QB Cooper Rush who is completing 69.5 % of his passes for 1268 yards, 6 TD’s and 3 Int. Rush has been able to spread it around to multiple receivers this season as Central Michigan has three receivers that average more than 50.0 yds receiving per game and are led by Ben McCord who has 17 receptions for 313 yards and 2 TD’s. The Chippewas don’t have much of a ground game and are led by Devon Spalding who has 184 yards and a TD on 51 carries. Defensively, Central Michigan is holding their opponents to 23.5 ppg. Central Michigan has one of the better defensive lines in the MAC and are led by DT Blake Serpa and DL Joe Ostman.

The Huskies are 8-0-1 ATS in their last 9 road games vs. a team with a losing home record and 18-6-2 ATS in their last 26 road games. The Chippewas are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games following a S.U. loss and 13-6 ATS in their last 19 conference games.

NIU looked a little sluggish in their opening win against UNLV but looked more like that NIU team we’ve come to expect in their two losses to Power 5 conference schools. Central Michigan might be 1-3 on the season but have been competitive in their three losses which have come against decent competition (Oklahoma State, @ Syracuse, and @ MSU). NIU and Central Michigan have two of the better defenses in the conference and as I think this will be a close game, my pick is going to go with the under in this one. Take the under.
