Instate rivals the New Mexico State Aggies and New Mexico Lobos collide at University Stadium.
The New Mexico State Aggies don’t win a whole lot of games and don’t have a storied program so when there is a chance to win the game has to be won. That didn’t happen in a 50-47 overtime defeat at the hands of visiting Texas-El Paso with the Miners scoring the final 14 points of regulation. Both teams finished with around 550 yards with plenty of balance. Quarterback Tyler Rogers gave the Aggies 185 yards on 14-28 with three touchdowns and an interception with Teldrick Morgan snagging four balls for 151 yards and a score. New Mexico State had plenty going for them on the ground as well behind Larry Rose III and his 20 carry, 196 yard performance with a Touchdown.

The New Mexico Lobos are inn the same boat as their rivals with a lack of success in their football program. The Lobos have shown some positive signs however and were too much for Wyoming to handle in a 38-28 decision on week four. Both teams finished with around 410 yards with the Cowboys having success through the air while UNM were tough on the ground. Quarterback Lamar Jordan completed 5-8 for 107 yards with a 64 yard scoring strike to Carlos Wiggins which is considered a prolific passing attack for the ground oriented Lobos. Jordan also led New Mexico on the ground with 147 yards and a score on 15 carries followed by Jhurell Pressley with 103 yards on 17 touches and a trip to the end zone.
The Aggies are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games after allowing more than 450 total yards in their previous game and are 0-7 ATS in their last 7 games following a ATS loss while going 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games after accumulating more than 450 total yards in their previous games. The Lobos are 6-0 ATS in their last 6 games after allowing more than 280 yards passing in their previous game and the Lobos are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games on grass while the under is 4-1 in Lobos last 5 vs. S-Belt. The over is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings in New Mexico and the road team is 8-3-1 ATS in their last 12 meetings while the over is 7-3 in the last 10 meetings. I don’t see how New Mexico loses this but in a rivalry game I’ll take all the points…
