The UConn Huskies make the long trip south to take the field with the UCF Knights.
After a promising 2-0 start the Connecticut Huskies have dropped three in a row following a 30-13 loss at Brigham Young. This was there for the taking with the game tied at 10-10 heading to the 4th before BYU exploded for 20 points. BYU had no problem moving the ball with 539 yards but gave the ball away three times. UConn mustered just 230 yards and 14 first downs and were 3-14 on third downs. Bryant Shirreffs completed 14-28 for 168 yards with a 30 yard scoring strike to Arkeel Newsome but two interceptions put a damper on the passing attack. Newsome was Connecticut’s lone source of yardage on the ground with 63 yards on 13 tries but neither side of the ball produced in the 4th.

If you have followed the Central Florida Knights the past several years you are well aware they were a quality squad. However an 0-5 start says UCF is rebuilding and not as fearsome with some issues in most areas. UCF fell to Tulane 45-31 in week five. Tulane won the yardage battle 395-357 but gave the ball away five times and with it, field position. Bo Schneider went 20-37 for 236 yards with a TD and three picks before Central Florida replaced him with Tyler Harris who completed 10-15 for 156 yards and three touchdowns. D’erren Wilson led the Knights in receiving with seven catches for 114 yards and three scores while Chris Johnson caught six balls for 113 yards. The UCF ground game wasn’t nearly as productive with Taj McGowan and his eleven yards the extent of the success.
The under is 5-0 in Huskies last 5 games overall and the under is 4-0 in Huskies last 4 games on grass while the Huskies are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 conference games. The under is 3-0-1 in Knights last 4 games on grass and the Knights are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games on grass while going 0-4 ATS vs. a team with a losing record. I’m not sold on Connecticut but I’ll take the points…
