The Akron Zips will travel to Rynearson Stadium to take on the Eastern Michigan Eagles this Saturday afternoon in College Football action.

The Akron Zips couldn’t find the end zone in their recent 14-12 loss to the Ohio Bobcats and dropped to 2-3 (0-1 MAC West) on the season. Akron was able to outgain the Ohio Bobcats by a 319-227 margin and although the Zips got the ball back with just about four minutes left in the game only down two, couldn’t get their fifth FG of the game for the victory. Leading the way for the Zips was FG kicker Robert Stein who kept the Zips close going a perfect 4 for 4 in the loss. On the season, Akron has struggled a bit on the offensive side as they’ve averaged just 21.8 ppg on just 346.8 yards per game. Leading the way for the Zips offense has been RB Conor Hundley who had 355 yards and 4 TD’s on 68 carries. Akron will continue to look for better QB play as Thomas Woodson has currently completed just 48.9% of his passes for 676 yards, 3 TD, and 3 Int on the season. Imani Davis (14 receptions, 201 yards, TD) and Jerome Lane (8 receptions, 242 yards, 2 TD) lead the way for the Zips Wide Receivers. Defensively, Akron has been solid as they are holding their opponents to just 20.4 ppg. The Zips have been great against the rush as they are holding their opponents to just 2.66 yards per carry. Akron currently has a plus 3 turnover margin. The defense has been led by LB Jatavis Brown (43 tackles, 4.5 sacks) and LB Dylan Evans (41 tackles).

Eastern Michigan vs. Akron - 10/10/15 College Football Pick, Odds, and Prediction

USA TODAY Sports

The Eastern Michigan Eagles kept their game against LSU closer to expected but fell to the LSU Tigers 44-22 and dropped to 1-4 (0-1 MAC West) on the season.  The Eagles were only down 8 points heading into the 4th quarter however were outgained by a 479-255 margin and committed 3 turnovers in the loss. Leading the way for Eastern Michigan was QB Brogan Roback who completed 17 of 24 passes for 161 yards, 1 TD, 3 Int. Eastern Michigan has done a decent job putting points on the scoreboard as the Eagles have averaged 31.4 ppg this season. Leading the way for the Eagles has been RB Darius Jackson who had 473 yards and 8 TD on 78 carries. QB Brogan Roback is currently completing 62.9% of his passes for 1038 yards, 6 TD’s and 7 Int. Roback has spread the ball around as Eastern Michigan currently has six receivers that have caught between 12 and 19 passes on the season. Leading the way for the WR’s has been Eddie Daugherty (14 receptions, 263 yards, 2 TD) and Dustin Creel (19 receptions, 206 yards, 3 TD). Eastern Michigan has struggled on the defense end as they are allowing 39.4 ppg on 494.4 yards per game. The Eagles have had real trouble stopping the run as they are giving up 6.93 yards per carry and 376.8 rushing yards per game. Eastern Michigan currently has a minus 4 turnover margin on the season. Leading the way for the defense is LB Great Ibe (43 Tackles, 0.5 sacks) and LB Anthony Zappone (38 tackles, 0.5 sacks).

The Zips are 3-10 ATS in their last 13 games overall and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 road games. The Eagles are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games in October and 11-23 ATS in their last 34 games overall.

All three of the Zips losses have come against quality teams (Oklahoma, Pittsburgh, Ohio). Eastern Michigan looked decent against LSU last week however, similar to Michigan State, LSU seems to play to level of their competition. The Zips defense is arguably the best that the MAC has to offer and as their offense has a decent running game and EMU’s rush defense is awful, I think the Zips cover this spread on the road.
