The Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks shoot for a road win at the Tulsa Golden Hurricane.
The Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks have stumbled out of the gates although their schedule hasn’t been easy. The Warhawks scored but couldn’t stop the Georgia Southern option in a 51-31 defeat in week five. UL-Monroe racked up 503 yards while ULM was held to 279 yards and gave the ball away three times. ULM needed a viable rushing game to keep the Eagles offense on the sideline but mustered less then 60 yards. Garrett Smith had some success moving Louisiana-Monroe through the air with 232 yards on 21-36 with three touchdowns but three interceptions were killers. Ajalen Holley paced the ULM receiving crew with eight catches for 166 yards but GSU couldn’t be stopped and the air game had too many mistakes.

The Tulsa Golden Hurricane might not be ready to compete for the conference crown but I have seen some positive signs for a team that has struggled in recent years. The Houston Cougars knocked off Tulsa 38-24 Saturday behind 638 yards of offense while allowing 456 yards and forcing a pair of turnovers. Tulsa needed to keep the high octane Houston attack off the field but could not muster much on the ground with Zack Langer totaling 62 yards and three touchdowns on 19 carries. Dane Evans tried to keep the Golden Hurricane competitive in the air with 326 yards and an interception but he could not carry the team without the ground game helping out. Joshua Atkinson led a productive Tulsa receiving crew with six catches for 107 yards.
The Warhawks are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games in October while the under is 5-0 in Warhawks last 5 games after allowing more than 40 points in their previous game and is 6-1 in Warhawks last 7 games following a ATS loss. The Golden Hurricane are 0-4 ATS vs. a team with a losing record and the over is 7-0 in Golden Hurricane last 7 home games vs. a team with a losing road record while going 4-0 in Golden Hurricane last 4 vs. a team with a losing record. I think Tulsa has a bit too much firepower for the Warhawks and I’ll lay the points…
