The Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks brace for a visit from the Appalachian State Mountaineers in week seven.
The Appalachian State Mountaineers have been strong on both sides of the ball in building a 4-1 record following a 37-3 rout of Georgia State in week six. The Mountaineers led 20-3 at the half and never let up until the final gun with almost 500 yards with plenty of ability to run and throw. The Panthers were held to 225 yards and threw a pick six to add insult to injury. The Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks don’t have a good record but they have played a strong schedule. However the bottom line is the Warhawks are 1-4 after a 34-24 defeat at a much improved Tulsa in week six. ULM led 24-20 heading to the 4th quarter before the Golden Hurricane closed out the game on a 14-0 run. Tulsa won the yardage battle 565-404 and forced five turnovers. Quarterback Garrett Smith paced the passing attack on 25-48 for 231 yards with a touchdown an interception with star receiver Ajalen Holley hauling in eleven catches for 113 yards and a score. UL Monroe had some success on the ground behind Kaylon Watson and DeVontae McNeal combining for 136 yards on 18 carries.
The under is 5-0 in Mountaineers last 5 games after accumulating more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game and the Mountaineers are 3-0-1 ATS in their last 4 conference games while the under is 4-0 in Mountaineers last 4 road games. The Warhawks are 0-4-1 ATS in their last 5 games in October and the over is 4-0 in Warhawks last 4 home games vs. a team with a winning road record while the under is 5-1 in Warhawks last 6 games after allowing more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game. I think there is too much momentum from Appalachian State to go against them…
