The Eastern Michigan Eagles will travel to the Glass Bowl to take on the 22nd ranked Toledo Rockets in College Football action this Saturday afternoon.
The Eastern Michigan Eagles once again had trouble on the defense end and fell to 1-5 (0-2 MAC-West) on the season after being defeated by the Akron Zips 47-21 this past Saturday. Eastern Michigan had trouble stopping the Zips early in this one and fell behind 40-14 by halftime. The Eagles allowed Akron to gain 500 yards and committed 3 turnovers in the loss. On the season, The Eagles have been decent on the offense end as they are averaging 29.7 ppg on 401.7 yards per game (234.5 passing, 167.2 rushing). Leading the way for the Eagles offense has been RB Darius Jackson who has 585 yards and 8 TD on 102 carries (5.74 ypc). QB Brogan Roback has completed 63.8% of his passes for 1242 yards and 8 TD’s but has struggled with turnovers as he has thrown 9 interceptions. Eddie Daugherty (21 rec, 370 yards, 3 TD) and Dustin Creel (19 rec, 206 yards, 3 TD) led the Eagles at the WR position. Defensively, the Eagles have really struggled as they are allowing their opponents to average 40.7 ppg. The Eagles have really struggled against opposing rushing attacks as they are allowing opponents to average 360.3 yards per game on the ground. The Eagles currently have a minus-7 turnover margin and are led on defense by LB Great Ibe (59 tackles, 0.5 sacks).

The 22nd ranked Toledo Rockies allowed the Kent State Golden Flashes to score an early TD on a fumble recovery, but then scored the next 38 points to defeat Kent State 37-7 and improve to 5-0 (2-0 MAC-West) on the season. The Rockies were once against without star RB Kareem Hunt due to a hamstring injury but still gained 288 yards on the ground and outgained the Golden Flashes by a 518-257 margin. Leading the way for the Rockets in the victory was Terry Swanson who had 161 yards and a TD on 14 carries. On the season, the Rockets are averaging 29.0 ppg on 413.2 yards per game (215.4 passing, 197.8 rushing). The rushing attack has been solid for the Rockets as they have gotten contributions from Terry Swanson (56 carries, 375 yards, 3 TD), Damion Jones-Moore (52 carries, 244 yards, 4 TD) and Kareem Hunt (40 carries, 214 yards, 2 TD). QB Phillip Ely has completed 53.5% of his passes for 1054 yards, 6 TD, 4 Int. Corey Jones (24 rec, 193 yards, 2 TD), Cody Thompson (14 rec, 264 yards, 1 TD) and Alonzo Russell (14 rec 227 yards, 2 TD) are leading the way for the Toledo WR’s. Toledo’s defense has been outstanding this season as they are holding their opponents to just 11.8 ppg on 344.8 yards (255.8 passing, 89 rushing). The Rockets currently have a plus-4 turnover margin and are led by LB Jaylen Coleman (48 tackles) and DL Orion Jones (22 tackles, 4.5 sacks).
The Eagles are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games following a ATS loss and 11-24 ATS in their last 35 games overall. The Rockets are 4-0-1 ATS in their last 5 conference games and 7-0-1 ATS in their last 8 games following a S.U. win.
The Eagles haven’t found any answers on the defensive side of the ball this season and although they’ve been able to put up some points from a decent rushing attack, the rushing yards for the Eagles will be hard to come by against the Rockets defensive at home. Eastern Michigan hasn’t been able to stop any running game this season and as Toledo has quality options in Swanson and Jones-Moore if Kareem Hunt doesn’t play, I see Toledo dominating this game and covering this large spread. Take Toledo to cover in this one.
