The Alabama Crimson Tide and the Tennessee Volunteers face off on Saturday in Tuscaloosa in a week 7 SEC college football rivalry game.

The Alabama Crimson Tide have reeled off four wins in a row and sit at 6-1 after winning at Texas A&M last week. The Alabama offense is averaging 35.6 points and 430.1 yards per game and they have turned the ball over 13 times. Bama QB Jake Coker has completed 61.9 percent of his passes with 11 touchdowns and six interceptions and he has rushed for two touchdowns. Derrick Henry is Alabama’s top rusher with 901 yards and 12 touchdowns and Calvin Ridley leads in receptions with 38 with three of those going for touchdowns. The Crimson Tide defense is allowing 16.7 points and 271.9 yards per game with 12 interceptions, four fumble recoveries, and 22 sacks. Reggie Ragland is the leader of the Alabama defense with 59 tackles, Jarran Reed has 34 tackles, and Jonathan Allen has five sacks. Alabama appears to be a team that is getting better as the season goes on.

USA TODAY Sports

The Tennessee Volunteers are 3-3 this season and are coming off of a bye week after beating Georgia two weeks ago. The Tennessee offense is averaging 37.2 points and 434.7 yards per game and they have turned the ball over just five times. Vols QB Joshua Dobbs has completed 58 percent of his passes with eight touchdowns and two interceptions and he has rushed for five scores. Jalen Hurd leads Tennessee in rushing with 572 yards and seven touchdowns and Josh Malone is their top pass catcher with 17 catches. The Tennessee defense is allowing 25.7 points and 419 yards per game with four interceptions, four fumble recoveries, and nine sacks. Jalen Reeves-Maybin is Tennessee’s top tackles with 56, Brian Randolph has 34 tackles, and Derek Barnett has 32 tackles. Tennessee is still looking for a signature win and snagging one here would fill that need.

Alabama is 0-4 against the spread in their last four home games, 1-7 against the spread following a game that they covered the point spread, and 14-5 against the spread in their last 19 October games. Tennessee is 10-22-1 against the spread against a team with a winning record, 2-7 against the spread following a win, and 1-4 against the spread in their last five SEC games. The favorite has covered the point spread in four of the last five meetings of these two and the road team is 14-5-1 against the spread in the last 20 meetings of these two.

I am looking for reasons to take Tennessee here but I just can’t find enough as their defense isn’t good enough to win and with Alabama still improving I see them covering.
