The New Mexico Lobos pay a visit to Spartan Stadium to oppose the San Jose State Spartans in week eight.
The run first New Mexico Lobos have fashioned themselves a 4-3 record with wins in three of four following a last second win versus visiting Hawaii. Dameon Gamble caught a 28 yard TD with less then a minute to play to secure the win but the Lobos stole one in my view as Hawaii held a 415-392 edge in yardage and UNM fumbled going in to the end zone. The normally productive Lobos run was effective when Teriyon Gipson and Jhurell Pressley had the ball in their hands with a combined 150 yards on 29 carries. Lamar Jordan and Austin Apodaca gave New Mexico a viable passing game with 195 yards and a touchdown each on 15-26 with Reece White snagging three balls for 72 yards.

The San Jose State Spartans are not all that far away from being a factor in the Mountain West but they obviously aren’t there yet. The Spartans fell to 3-4 following a 30-7 defeat at the hands of visiting San Diego State where the offense never found a groove with 148 yards and a pair of turnovers. The short passing attack of quarterback Kenny Potter went for 113 yards on 14-24 with a pair of interceptions with Malik Roberson leading the Spartans with a pair of receptions for 39 yards while rushing for 41 yards on five carries to lead the rushing attack. Defensively the Aztecs ran the ball on San Jose State and hit passes when needed.
The Lobos are 1-6 ATS in their last 7 games following a S.U. win and the over is 4-1 in Lobos last 5 conference games while the under is 4-1 in Lobos last 5 games on fieldturf. The Spartans are 0-7 ATS vs. a team with a winning record and the over is 6-0 in Spartans last 6 home games vs. a team with a winning road record while going 4-0 in Spartans last 4 games after allowing more than 200 yards rushing in their previous game. I feel that New Mexico should be able to run on SJSU if the Aztecs did so I’ll take the points…
